I'm pretty curious how the seating vs general admission thing is going to work at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. I haven't seen too many shows there with both reserved seats and a GA floor, 99% of the time the whole venue is GA or reserved. When I saw The Raconteurs there many years ago, anyone could go onto the GA floor but you had to have a wristband to get into the balconies. As a result, the upper balconies had tons of empty space and the floor was totally overcrowded. That was a long time ago, so I'm hoping that they'll be keeping folks with reserved seats off the floor these days but, I won't lie, I've been stressing this a bit ever since buying my tickets.

I really enjoyed the show last night. Ended up in GA and got there about 6:30 and was two people off the rail in between Oteil and John and had an incredible view. I'd heard enough YouTube performances of the slowed down Cold Rain & Snow so I was prepped for that, but the slower pace on Bertha really bummed me out. That's pretty much the only song I thought the tempo was an issue. One of my favorite parts of the night were the interplay between Jeff & John. They did this thing near the end (Morning Dew?) where John would do a little solo riff, then Jeff would mimic it on his organ and they were cracking each other up. John more than held his own up there and, being so close, i could really see the interplay between him and Bob and it was just super cool. You could really tell that John was in awe of sharing the stage with those guys.

So excited about the show tonight. Hoping for a Jack Straw and Me & My Uncle but I think they both got played at the last show so I'm not holding my breath.

I have a floor ticket available for me for the Atlanta show next week. $100…not sure it's worth it. I don't want to get there and be all pissed off by the sluggish tempo of all the songs. It's ironic, because Bob was playing some tunes (Jack Straw, Playin') so fast in the latter years of the Dead. I do like Mayer's playing though. Totally compelling. And, of course I love drums and Bob's playing. I watched some of the webcast last week, and just kind of got bored though. From the reviews here, it sounds like a pretty goo time. Not sure.
I originally bought a pair of tickets to the Atlanta show and planned to take my wife (a semi-fan). After thinking about the additional $$$ a babysitter would run me, I decided to sell our pair and try to find a cheap single. I've been checking Ticketmaster every few days and over the weekend a single GA popped up, so I grabbed it. $100 is steep for sure, but I justified it to myself. I'd kinda moved away from the Dead but after seeing Bob Weir open the Americanarama show a few years back (and reading these multiple GD threads religiously) I've been on a bit of a revival.

Jesus, these two Ryman shows are awesome. The things were shot so well and the sound was almost perfect. Second night still going on, but these are two amazing shows.
I agree. Watched them both and was just blown away. Isbell is just on fire lately.

I just pulled a nice pair of seats to the Dead & Co. show in Atlanta, so I bit the bullet. Curious to see how the show plays out. Either way, I'm confident it will be a nice night out with my wife.

Can't wait to listen! Thanks! (Can I share this link on twitter?)
Go for it. The taper sent the recording to a huge mailing list, so his intention seems to be to spread it far and wide.
For those curious about lineage etc., this was shared as AIF files and I converted to FLAC for easier uploading, since I wanted to create my own link to share here and not send his link which may be tied to his personal identity in some way.

Was anyone taping at the show?
This was in my inbox this morning. Huge thanks to the taper.

I saw Smashing Pumpkins open for Drivin' N' Cryin' at the Roxy in Atlanta back in 93 or so and it blew my 16 year old mind.
They were in town recording Siamese Dream and were just picking up sets wherever they could. I had only heard Drown off the Singles soundtrack at that time, but I instantly became a fan. Saw them 3-4 more times over the years, but never saw another show that amazing from them.

Schedule is out and Wilco get a 1:10 set. Pretty disappointing to see The Avett Brothers, who I like, headlining over them and getting a full two hour set.

There's no real way to respond to that post, but I wanted to let you know I read every word of it. This week will surely be better.

My first concert was the dead in Atlanta in 1992. Sugar Magnolia closed the 2nd set and it was the first song I really knew that they'd played all night and I was blown away. Wish I could re-live all those dead shows I saw now that I know the catalog so much better.

I don't think this has been mentioned yet:

It is up on the wilcoworld website now too.
Beyond stoked. I've been to the first two years of this fest and it's always a blast. Was really hoping Wilco were going to be headlining after seeing the Florida and Texas dates a few weeks ago.

That is a good point.
I am really shocked with this.
I wonder what the divorce rate is for 70+ year olds with over 30 years married.
It will be interesting to see if he has another relationship and what kind of girl. Would be funny if he hooked up with some young girl....or maybe not so funny.
I heard he was coming on Stern soon.....looking forward to that interview.
I was pretty excited last week when Stern teased his upcoming appearance, but I'm guessing now the interview will be postponed or canceled.

Pretty stoked I was able to score a ticket to this.

Arcade Fire in Atlanta. No tux for me.
What was the orderof the opening bands last night? I'd like to see Tune-Yards, but I don't care to see Kid Koala.
What did you think of the show? I was there, too, and thought it was fantastic. Great sound and stage show. Covering Radio Free Europe in the encore was pretty bad ass, as well.

Pretty stoked to be seeing these guys at Shaky Knees in Atlanta in less than three weeks.
-
First few times I heard Four Non-Blondes What's Up on the radio, I was sure it was new Concrete Blonde.

Pretty sure I paid $275 via ebay for a pair of seats front row center to see My Morning Jacket at Chastain Amphitheater in Atlanta back in 2010. Worth every penny. My wife was eight months pregnant and it was great for her to be able to sit down for most of the show and still have an awesome view.

Can one of you DBT experts school me on which songs are sung by Cooley and which by Patterson on this new one? I downloaded it, so I don't have liner notes to help me. Apparently, one guy sometimes sings a song the other guy wrote, adding to the confusion. Thanks...
On the new one, Cooley sings Shit Shots Count, Primer Coat, Made Up English Oceans, Hearing Jimmy Loud, Til He's Dead or Rises, Natural Light & First Air of Autumn. Patterson sings the others.

I think you need to be a cable/satellite subscriber.
Oh, that sucks. Sorry to get your hopes up but you do have to login. I saw that link on twitter and didn't realize you had to be a subscriber.

Front row balcony at the Tabernacle is one of the best seats at any venue and you've got nothing to worry about. The ushers are great at keeping people out of the reserved seats that don't belong there. My concern is the opposite, people with not so great reserved seats overcrowding the floor.
