  1. My apologies if this has been done before (didn't find anything with a (very) quick search)... Just wondering what you guys think are the best songs/albums from Paul Westerberg (replacements or solo). Until recently I had only listened to a couple of the replacements "best of" compilations, but I just got my hands on Folker and it sounds great. Looks like he has been very prolific and I'm not sure where to go from here. Thanks!
  2. thanks! i didn't know about that itunes trick... do you know if it will burn to a cd with only the first 3 minutes or is that just a way for it to skip the last 12 minutes when it is played on your computer?
  3. i apologize if this has been posted before, but i'm looking for an mp3 of less than you think that has the 12 minutes of noise edited out... for the purpose of putting this song on a mix cd. i own the album but don't have the editing tools (or expertise) to do this on my own! thanks for your help!

  6. am i too late to get in on this??? i sure hope not... let me know!
  7. my apologies if this has been done before, but i'm just getting into the jayhawks (i've had rainy day music for a while and always enjoyed it, but never got any of their other albums) and the related side/solo projects.... and was wondering if some longtime fans could help me put together a list of their favorite jayhawks tunes my top 3 so far..... save it for a rainy day, i'm gonna make you love me, all the right reasons what are your favorites??
  8. wondering if any jason molina fans could point me in the right direction for where to start with his vast catalog of recorded output..... or maybe a list of your favorite tunes (a best of jason molina mixtape, if you will) thanks in advance...
  9. any sabres fans on the board???? off to a great start (minus the last two clunkers against the sens and lightning...)
  10. with the changing seasons upon us, i was curious to know what everybody's favorite nick drake songs are, as well as other good "autumn" music.... pink moon, northern sky, and which will are some of my favorites (and im sure alot of yours as well)
  11. In honor of the upcoming tour dates with Wilco opening for Neil Young, I was hoping for some suggestions for a Neil Young mixtape (of sorts).... With such a deep catalog, I'm sure I'm missing out on some great tunes... Some of my favorites so far.... Hank to Hendrix This Old Guitar On the Beach Motion Pictures Cortez the Killer (Sorry if this has been done before and/or recently)

    dash 7

i was listening to the jeff solo show from last march when he played dash 7 and it sounded incredible - im pretty much positive that its in a different tuning, but thats about as far as i got - wondering if anyone could help me out with this great tune thanks!
  18. so, ive been playing acoustic for about 4 years, and i finally got myself a nice fender strat... so does anyone have any advice on songbooks, websites, etc that can teach me how to play some electric guitar-ish music? i mean, playing shes a jar and far, far away just dont work on the electric.... any help is appreciated, thanks

    She's A Jar

thats some great work, gryf - that description of the main riff is spot on, and really makes the song - one additional point.... in concert, ive noticed that jeff actually plays the hammer on (1h2) as a bit of a slide, where he uses his second finger to slide from the first to second fret, then quickly plays the b string (1st fret) - personally, i like to play it the way you described above, by pulling my index finger, as ive never gotten the right sound with the slide......
  21. thats some great work.... also, i know that jeff uses a capo on 2 when this is played live - possibly Drop D??
  22. those are the right chords, but jeff plays it with capo on 5 - so the verse is C, Am, Em, F, G chorus is: C, Em, Am, Em, Dm, G i think thats it, if you can match up the chords with it on the other site, that should work too hope that helps
  23. that tab on altcountrytab isnt really helpful at all.... the dude told me he had been working on this one, but im not sure if he ever posted it - anyone know? if not, a good place to start would be listening to the live version from the chicago auditorium theatre show (10/30/04 i believe) - its a little easier to hear the different notes that jeffs playing.....
