"This Machine" is probably a reference to his guitar.
I never thought of that, but it's a nice nod to Woody.

Are there any FREE players out there that support playing FLAC without converting them to another format?
I use Windows Media Player.

I saw this song as more about class struggle and hypocrisy. I guess it could be seen as anti-war (the more desperate people of our society fight wars that are designed by the more fortunate).
As for the religious imagery, it's definitely not condoning war in the name of religion. The guy who gets to stay at home "rises each day as planned" and "his will is command" but when he goes to church every Sunday, he's "alone and lost" and "in his soul will not be free." Meanwhile the guy who goes to war is dying "like Jesus on the cross, my faith cannot be tossed, and my life will not be lost if my love comes across." It seems to more call out people who support wars in the name of religion as hypocrites.

It's on DVD Project Vol 2.

The switchover seems to have reset everything. Once you get in a topic, that feature still works properly.
Ok thanks guys. That's not a big deal.

I can see most avatars, I think.
My question is concering the "go to new posts" button. Did that "refresh" for everyone else. Now when I click that button it just takes me to the first post in the thread.
And now that we can vote on posts, this post would just like to say what an amazing group of people we have here. If you vote for me I while make recess last half the day and lunches will be free.

I saw a different show on this tour and also had a great time. The Q & A at mine was hilarious. This visibly drunk chick in a side balcony got up to ask a question and they riffed on it for a while. First she said "I have a question" and right away Guest said "black coffee, that's the answer." Her question was something along the lines of "What are your future plans in regards to cinema" and Chris Guest said "I'm taking my son to see Wolverine this weekend."
Start Me Up was great. I was falling out of my chair laughing at the end during the "You make a dead man come" part.

Hall Of Fame here we come then!
I totally envy you guys that can watch live baseball. I can only follow it online and that is a bit of a pain in the arse. There is a channel over here that you can add to your satellite subscription but it costs quite a bit and I can't really justify it. Having consideration for other people in the house sucks balls.
Have you checked out MLB.TV online? They upgraded it this year and it is pretty good quality, HD when available. If you're overseas, you'll get every season game and playoffs.

We should have/could still get a Via Chicago fantasy league together.
Unless there already is one and I'm just left out because I'm fat.
Is it because I'm fat?
Go Tigers!
There already is one and I love your curves.

Happy Birthday, y'all!

I count two humps. Ergo, camel.
Look with your heart, not your eyes.

Okay I am an idiot.....for some reason I can't even find the stream on WilcoWorld. I have looked all over the site too....consiquently have not yet listened to it.
LouieB
Louie, It's not on there anymore. They said it would be back up sporadically before the release. I think with SBS they did it on weekend nights.

Great lyrics. I love the imagery & the story. one of the things I love about this album is in a few songs (this one and Bull Black Nova) Jeff wrote from a different perspective than his own.
I still think Conscript may have been a better title, though.

I have the leak, listen to it via computer, CD/car, and mp3 player. I have pre-ordered the vinyl/t-shirt combo. Can't wait to get it!

(just pasting this here because the rockproper label's blog in time will have other news and advertisements etc on its blog, but mostly because it is an awesome tribute no one should miss reading)
That's a great tribute.
It's great hearing everyone's thoughts. I'm still processing this and it's great to have somewhere to go.

The first time Wilco clicked for me was hearing those lead guitar lines on Summer Teeth (the song). Thanks for all of your contributions to the catalog and to making my life enjoyable, and on my darkest days livable. You'll never be forgotten

It appears it's streaming on Nonesuch

I for one am very happy that people with no technical or music writing skills have access to the tools to make music anyway.

I kind of take the points of relief as the view from outside the car; the majestic and beautiful black car cruising down the road in the setting sun as seen from the outside. And when the tension builds back up, you're back inside the car with the protagonist.
I like this.

Sounds about right, but I remain hopeful that all the blood is a metaphor for a relationship ending badly. Not that Jeff isn't allowed to write murder songs, but I relate to it better when it's about a relationship.
from Spin
"There are definitely more songs on this record that aren't directly from my experience. There's a song written from the point of view of a guy just killed his girlfriend," Tweedy says of "Bull Black Nova," a track with a classic-rock feel. -
1. At Least That's What You Said (AGIB Bonus Disc)
2. Magazine Called Sunset (More Like The Moon)
3. In A Future Age (Sunken Treasure)

Now in a more serious mood: I don't think we (people who bought presale tickets for Spanish shows) are criticizing just for criticism's sake. I don't think selling last rows seats as pre-sale, or buying firsts rows ticktes and receiving random placed seats is what we expect from the "pre-sale for fans" concept... and if that's what we can expect, then I don't see the point of doing the presale at all.
I am not blaming anyone, because I really don't know who's to blame, but I do know that I won't be buying presale ticktets next time.. and that's sad
That's how it's always been in the States. I'm used to it. Maybe you shouldn't use presale if you have another method to get tickets.

Anyone interested in doing a midseason fantasy league? I'm open to head to head or roto. Just need more to satiate my hunger.
