  1. i'm gonna keep calling it walken just to annoy people who think that name is stupid!
  2. --> QUOTE(Paul B @ Nov 2 2006, 12:39 PM) I'm starting a Wilco cover band. We're gonna play tunes just from their most majestic, golden era.....2001-2003. In fact, we're gonna cover entire shows note for note from that era ala DSO. Now that I have the model worked out, I need a name for the band......Will and the Tweedy Birds.....nah, too hokey..........c'mon brain, start thinking............Ocliw? Nah, damn dyslexia acting up again...... Cool, you really starting a cover band? Where are you located? There are 3 Wilco cover bands in Chicago that I know of: The Late Greats, Sleepy Kisse
  3. hmmm, well, I'd say you're pretty luck if you've had the opportunity to see wilco enough times to get bored with their shows. I'm looking foward to my FIRST EVER Wilco show in Chicago this November. Crazy huh? Anyway, they could play just about anything and I'll be thrilled. I'm a long-time fan, but I'm a broke non-profit employee, so I've been waiting for a home town show at a good venue. (Just couldn't shell out the cash for Lalapoloza, since I wasn't sure about the setting. I want to be sure I'll be able to see the band and hear the music.) That said, I've seen Jeff solo twice, o

Yeah, me too. So . . . tired . . . It was fun to have a crowd from the Old Town School's Wilco ensemble there. Way to celebrate JHC's birthday in style.
  8. Anyone know the piano part to the album version? Some pointers would be sweet!
  9. Far, Far Away alternates between 4/4 and 3/4. Also, what the heck is going on with the rhythm from Hey Chicken (Loose Fur)? It seems to change or break down in a couple of spots--or maybe I just get confused at the changes.
  10. yeah, i'd agree. Kind of like AD= mellow, quality couch rock. Cool stuff, but you have to be in the mood for something a bit mellow. HWB = Pretty rockin'. Definitely a good live act.
  11. fyi, the late greats are made up of students from the old town school of folk music in Chicago. the only professional musician in those recordings is the drummer, and he's actually a guitar player just filling in on drums. this is a group that spends the week working as teachers, government workers, lawyers, engineers, writers, grad students and stuff like that. for some, this was their first time ever singing in front of an audience. it's really all about having fun, playing music we enjoy. and hey, if you can't go see wilco live, you can see the late greats for free. we don't
