  1. Relevance has nothing to do about the music, yes his music may be interesting, but he has nothing to say of substance. His lyrics are shallow and obtuse and show no relevance to the world we live in.. The comparison to Dylan is a weak one on your part because he was and for the most part remains relevent, which has to do with the lyrics not the music. You like to throw personel insults around which is ok, because you can hid behind a forum post. You as demonstrated by your comments above have a very limited understanding of the difference between music and lyrics. My suggestion to you is may
  2. Yes you are right, but he has only been the soup dujour for the last couple of records, this fascination for his music which I fail to see will fade to be replaced by another artist who has nothing to say of relevance.
  3. Thanks for the info, but listening to Andrew Bird is like chalk on a blackboard. Five years from now he will be irrelevent.
  4. Thinking of going to see the National in MA, How is their live show in regards to intensity of the performance and interpretations of their recorded material
  5. Exile in Guyville us her best when looked at from a lyrics perspective. I thought the music on on her self titled album was more consistent but at times veered into the style over substance category.
  6. Agreed I have seem them on great nights and good nights but never less than that
  7. I should add I agree on your opinion of the Boxer and The National in general tremendous is the only word that comes to mind when discussing the band and their musical output to date. I had never heard of them until I saw them talked about on this board, so I gave them a listen and wow!!!
  8. Not troll just expressing an opinion, as you are when you defend your reasons for defending him
  9. Agree 100% on the Lily and Amy comparison
  10. You just backed up my point overly hyped here and other outlets, which is not deserved considering his music goes nowhere, round and round with no exhibited purpose. Yes he may be talented and have all sorts of ideas but this does not equal a enjoyable listen ie Scott Walker's output in recent years. I call it the Pitchfork mentality.
  11. Hype over substance.................boring
  12. Sure, hype over substance Right to the point my friend, instead of tip toeing around the fact.
