  1. Hi All, Wondering what everybody makes of these shows: http://consequenceofsound.net/2009/10/21/andrew-bird-announces-gezelligheid-performances/ I think it's especially interesting because it's so unpredictable. I've been kind of burned-out, recently, on the relative sameness of the shows I've been seeing (no offense intended! Maybe that says more about me than the shows). Even the good shows are good in the ways I expect, if you know what I mean. This Gezelligheid idea is something else again, and it reminds me of the pleasure of going to a show without any preconceived notions. Don't k
  2. I got the discs from joecrowe and if I remember correctly they were fine. Sound quality was ok (nothing great). Give me a few days to dig them up and make sure they're working properly. If they are, I'll post here and I'll be happy to mail out some copies.

  4. Title says it all. My wife can't make it to the show, so I've got an extra. Face value + fees = $37. PM if interested.
  5. Hello all. Title says it all -- PM if interested.
  6. Happy to report that Secret Service will repay me for the service fee. I'm sure to some it seems like a lot of fuss over very little, but it's the principle of the thing. Anyway, Secret Service did a good job helping me out, and I'm happy.
  7. Well, yes. Maybe I wasn't clear: the issue here is that I wasn't given any choice, or any warning, about the fee. Why should I not get a full refund because Secret Service chose to use PayPal? Remember, I specifically asked them either to credit my credit card or to send me a check. If they prefer to use PayPal, fine by me, but they should make sure I get the full refund, i.e. *they* should pay the fee. Why am I the one who has to pay here?
  8. Anyone else get a refund for the Duluth show? (I can't go to the rescheduled date.) I got an e-mail from Secret Service saying they credited my PayPal account, then when I clicked the link to claim the credit, PayPal charged me a $2.23 service fee. Not to haggle over nickels and dimes, but this doesn't seem fair to me. I'm not a PayPal expert, and there was no warning that by accepting the credit I would be charged. When I returned the tickets, I specifically asked that either they credit my credit card OR mail me a check. I don't care if they prefer PayPal, but shouldn't I get a full refu
  9. Topic title says it all. Very sorry about Nels, of course. My wife and I live in southern Minnesota; we planned to drive to Duluth tomorrow, then push on to Winnipeg the day after, so the chicken pox has double-whammied us. And unfortunately we'll almost certainly not be able to make the rescheduled Duluth show (work obligations). Ugh. We've never been to Winnipeg, so we're inclined to go as planned -- doubt we can cancel our B&B reservation anyway. Suggestions, anybody?
  10. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
  11. Now that we've had some time to digest the new stuff, anybody have thoughts about how they'll integrate it? For the 'older' songs we've already seen a few combinations they seem to like: IATTBYH / Impossible Germany Walken / Theologians Though that doesn't mean they'll keep them that way. Two ideas: Sky Blue Sky / Airline to Heaven [too obvious?] On and On and On / Spiders Time to make your predictions! Bonus points for good explanations.
  12. I've been wondering if the title is from Toni Morrison's Beloved. There too the line is about a family resemblance. In the book a (ghostly) daughter returns to her mother and her sister. At one point (page 216 in my edition), the three of them trade off speaking the following lines: Beloved You are my sister You are my daughter You are my face; you are me I have found you again; you have come back to me You are my Beloved You are mine You are mine You are mine I have your milk I have your smile I will take care of you You are my face; I am you. Why did you leave me who am you? -- Or
  13. I'd love one too, if you still have them. Thanks!
