  1. Bumping this, maybe someone will see it and have pity on my poor stranded soul. If I don't get a ride then I hope everyone who is going has a good time, I'll just be holding out until their next visit to the area :-(
  2. Two more weeks (roughly!) until the show! Hooray! I hope everyone is enjoying their new album to get pumped up for the show! Now, I am here to request a favor from you kindly VC members. I desperately need a ride to this show since my car is out of commission! I don't think the NFTA goes out to Lewiston either, especially not on a Sunday. Are any of you kindred souls carpooling, or perhaps know of someone who is? I live in the city of Buffalo, not too out of the way. I can chip in with gas money and snacks and parking fees or whatever! Please let me know if you can lend a fellow Wilco fan a
  3. Just downloaded the album yesterday, I've listened to it a couple of times through and it's not too shabby. I might actually buy it. It does sound a LOT like Grandaddy, but that's hardly the worst thing in the world.
  4. Um, might be off-topic, but what is with the ubiquity of the "rose from the ashes of Uncle Tupelo" line? Is there really no other way to say that? I tried googling it and couldn't even figure out where it originated, but my guess is allmusic. But yes, it is a very interesting article. I'm pretty sure we can all relate to the idea of a Wilco show as a transcendent experience. I also know a few Wilco fans who are kind of like born-agains in that once they found Jeff Tweedy, they dove in head first and are committed for life. Certainly not just "casual" listeners.
  5. Dang, I just went with lawn tickets. I'm sure it'll still be fun, though. I wonder what the chances are that it will sell out, as I had friends who wanted to go, but probably won't get tickets for a little while. I'm so excited, glad to hear it's a nice venue!
  6. Regular tickets go on sale Friday. Far be it from me to offend those of you who love WNY, I didn't mean it as an insult, more as a self-loathing gibe . Also, as a hipster, as long as they serve PBR and there's enough room in the seats for me to cross my arms and sneer disapprovingly, I'm sure I'll have a mediocre time. I just wanted to get a feel for the venue, as I've been to outdoor shows where there was crappy sound and the "lawn seats" were the worst seats in the house, not to mention rife with drunk kids trying to yell over the show. How will I be able to act disinterested if I can't he
  7. So I just tried to buy pre-sale tickets, but they looked to be all in the back of the reserved seating area. Me being the quitter I am, I decided to wait for open sale, to see if any better seat will open up. Has anyone been to ArtPark before? How are the lawn seats? I figured I might as well go with those, since those are usually more fun anyway. I'm surprised that they're not playing in the actual city of Buffalo, but I suppose there aren't really a lot of choices for larger acts here. They're probably too big for the Town Ballroom or the Tralf but that would have been awesome. If ArtPark i
  8. I am so disappointed that this thread was not about a Wilco photo shoot for Vogue. I would love to see any of the boys in a nice couture two-button sport coat.
  9. Great article! I was pleasantly surprised to see the headline at the bottom of the New York Times' homepage this morning. Let me just say that after a sleepless, stress-filled night, this was actually a very heartening article - Jeff is a resilient person and a great writer. I can only hope that with strength and support like his, he will continue to improve. Thanks for posting the article!
  10. More music for my money? Hell no, I want all the Wilco time I can get! I mean, I have nothing against Fionn Regan (as long as he keeps me awake more than Low did) but I would be much happier to have a 100% Wilco show.
  11. I'll be there! I'm driving down from Buffalo, does anyone have any recommendations for cheap places to stay? Who's opening? I thought it would be Dr. Dog, but if Andrew Bird is opening, that is awesome and I will be that much more excited!
  12. What are the chances they'll come to Buffalo anytime soon?
  13. Oh sorry, I didn't see that it had been posted already. My apologies!
  14. http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20043289_2...43665_6,00.html "'One of the strangest things about coming into Wilco was that people would just walk up to me and say, 'So, is Tweedy an a--hole?' says guitarist Nels Cline, 51. 'I don't know where this reputation derives from. I think he's a fantastic boss.'" For some reason, this conjures up images of Jeff behind a desk, wearing a tie and delegating busy work. I never really thought of him as the "boss" of the band, that's odd.
  15. Ah, I can't believe I missed that! I listen to WNYC all the time! Thanks for posting it.
