  1. Done for Waterloo.

Even though I won't be attending SS, it was nice to contribute in some small way.

I do, though, take solace in knowing that in some parallel universe I'm already there, front and center, hearing Waterloo and having a blast.

    I second this

  2. Wonderful review. i honestly read it with a big smile the whole way through. Fiona, one of my dreams is to travel to Australia and New Zealand some time. If Wilco turns out to be the catalyst, well, wouldn't that be perfect! I would love an excuse to meet you in person. Next Wilco tour through Australia? :)

Mavis is so fabulous. I'm really glad you got her for the opener!

Donna! I would love to see you over here. I'll hold you to that promise and hope the next Wilco Australia/New Zealand shows aren't too far away. Can't wait to see you. XOXO

  3. Wow, just back from the best weekend ever!

I loved both Welly and Auckland shows, I especially love the wellington vibe and I was very happy with the set lists even though I didn't get my request, (more like the moon), it seemed like nearly all happy songs, or maybe i was just so super happy to be there :)

(those are my hands and moonstone ring on the youtube clip lol.)

So I got the t-shirt, got the poster, got the setlist from Auckland and was also on their flight from Wellington and they were lovely and awesome enough for me to get this -

    Yay!

Hoping they'll be back next year.

Wow! What a splendid photo. Good for you, Luminous!

It was such a great weekend. X

  4. Here goes . . .  I'm here, in Wellington, filled with a post-Wilco Show Glow . . . forgive me if I go on a little.

This was my 13th Wilco concert and the best. Was at the Melbourne and Sydney shows and loved our night at the Opera House ( I found out it was lit up blue for Autism which I appreciated having a beautiful 11 year old son, Sean, who was diagnosed with Autism ) but last night was something else, it really was.

I'm visiting my friend, but she's not into rock shows, so I was without my husband last night. I met a very nice couple from the States and we managed to get down to the very front, and got very excited.

I still can't quite believe we got Mavis as an opener! I'm counting my lucky stars. She was glorious and lovely and warm, and as much as I love Wilco I wouldn't have been disappointed if she had sang all night ( well, i'd have been a wee bit disappointed!) She sang You Are Not Alone with Jeff and it was beautiful and something I'd only dreamed and hoped to see live. What a gorgeous song. I had to pinch myself.

As for the main show, well it was brilliant. It was so much fun, I had a ball. The NZ crowd were amazing and also warm and full of song. Oh God, I hope it's not 3 years until they come back. Perhaps, I'll be lucky enough to see them when I travel home to North England in September, I like dreaming. Paul, Brianne, Heather, Russell and Miss Donna Kidsmoke I hope I get the chance to travel with you soon.

Sometimes I feel a little bereft after Wilco leave town but will try and come down gently and listen to the gorgeous new Low record and keep my spirits high with the Clash.   I'm so In Love with Wilco x

  5. I didn't want last night to end. My husband and I had a great evening ( even though I was front row, Nels side, and he was 10 rows back! ). I had to keep reminding myself it was one night only for us to see Wilco at the opera house. WILCO AT SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE!!

The walk to the venue along the harbour was gorgeous and the opera house looked beautiful all lit up. I was so excited, I'll never forget it.

Wilco we're amazing, as ever, and I loved "One by One".

Waiting in airport for flight back to Melbourne. Hope everyone has a great night tonight ( Be Wise, Ecythump . . .) I'm travelling to Wellington to see a good friend for a few days tomorrow, so I have one more show to go. I can't wait to bring my boys to see wilco, wish we were solid sounding . . .

  6. Paul! I've been thinking of you and Brianne. The last time I saw them was with you in Vienna, 3 years ago! Can I just say I instantly regretted giving my Springsteen ticket away - Was a fantastic concert by all accounts and Pat was standing a few spaces away from my Mother and Ray. Bugger it! Wish you were here, you would like it here.

  7. Thank You Rebecca. Please message me your mobile so that I can meet and say hello to you before show. Given my Brucie ticket to Mum tonight, who's visiting from England, so she's going with my hubby. I wanted to be fresh for this run of Wilco shows! Can't have Bruce wrecking me Wilco week.
