  1.

For a long-form lyric there is one true winner to me and that is:

I am looking forward toward the shadows tracing bones.
Our faces stitched and sewing, our houses hemmed into homes.
Trying to be thankful, our stories fit into phones.
Our voices lift so easily, a gift given accidentally
when we're not sure we're not alone.

    From "You Are My Face"

For a short lyric I'd go with:

It's a random painted highway and a muzzle of bees.
My sleeves have come unstitched from climbing your trees.

    From "Muzzle of Bees"

    Love both. Thanks for sharing.

  2. If you had to single out one Wilco lyric or verse, what would it be?

These lines from One True Vine always hit me:

    Life had ceased

    I was lost and tired

    You set me free from

    This mighty, mighty fire

    Just in time to be

    My one true vine

  3. I've had my Wilco plates for a couple of years now. I rarely get any comments but when I do it's always a treat, since it's invariably from another fan. (Except for the one time at a Wilco/Hess gas station where somebody asked if I worked for the gas company or was just a really big fan of the gas stations.)

Funny. I think I saw someone post a "Cherry Ghost" plate a while back but couldn't find it in the archives.
  4. Hmmm... I'm not sure what I think of the new My Morning Jacket song "Sec Walkin".

Are they trying to one-up Wilco's "Walken". For some reason I'm slightly offended by it all.

I don't know, maybe I'm just an oversensitive Wilco fan.

  5. Oh! This has been so frustrating for me too. I see exactly where you are coming from. We just want people to "get Wilco".

When I get that blank stare after mentioning Wilco, It makes me so frustrated. Then I go trying and explain they're sound, and I just get more blank stares. They're loss I guess.

  6. Would many of you be interested in hearing Wilco remixed in 5.1 surround sound? I've had a surround DVD player for years, but only got my first DVD-audio disc of Talking Heads' 'Fear Of Music' and it sounds amazing. Can you imagine the layers of 'Summerteeth' in surround or, wait for it, YHF (sorry, I've just come) arranged in this way? It's never going to happen now, but a dream situation for me would be for SBS to include a bonus disc with a 5.1 remix... now provided you have the right gear, there would be NO excuse for hanging on to your crappy stream-ripped downloads then.

I couldn't agree more. I got the new "Love" Beatles Album, and I was blown away by the DTS surround sound. Sunken Treasure would have been great in DTS. Would have been icing on the cake.
