  1. We're seeing them in Albuquerque this Sunday, and I fear my better half won't be too impressed with all the new material. But, she's a "hits" kinda gal and I still love her. Me, I'm just wanting to let the performance of new songs make me hear Wilco in a new light.

The seated venue in ABQ is pretty undersold at this point, looks to be about 2/3 full at best. Here's hoping for s special night!

  2. Figured I would post the New Pornographers setlist as well, for anyone interested (Neko Case was not with them for this show; not sure if that'll be true for the entire little run of shows they're on now):

And just generally speaking, I have to say I enjoyed the crowd around me last night. There was a VIP section that was fenced off at stage right, but the majority of the people right up front seemed to be there for Wilco and seemed to be really into it. And with the exception of one or two little skirmishes that resulted in people shoving their way in and whatnot, everyone seemed very chill.

I happened to be standing behind what I think were a couple of dads who had come to the show with their teenaged-ish sons. One of the father-son pairs seemed to be especially into the Wilco show, pogoing a little bit and just generally just giving off good energy. It was fun watching them as the show progressed. I don't know if either of them ever comes on here, but afterward I complimented the son on his enthusiasm and told him never to lose that because it just makes for a better show upfront when people are actually into it and at least somewhat demonstrative, IMHO. I mean, why stand right up front if you're just going to stand there with your arms crossed? At least that's the way I feel about it. :banana

Here's the New Pornographers recording, I'm really happy with it-

Special show for me that I caught while back home visiting family and friends. Had lawn seats but ran into a good friend and he upgraded us to the 5th row behind the pit.

And the show was recorded, but not by me.

  4. Hail hail the lucky ones!

We were listening and smiling and recording and singing along from the great Southwest.  :badger  :badger

And the energy there in Mass came through just fine...thanks to the band and YOU ALL that were there!

Here's a link to an mp3 version of the stream capture, nothing special quality-wise but perhaps it'll hold you over until the official Roadcase release-

  5. It means that there is a security setting that almost every band and business uses that allows "anyone" to see the content of their Facebook page, but of course if you're not a member of Facebook you can't post to it.

For example, Wilco's Facebook page, which I and I'm sure others reference all the time.

This link explains "how" a Facebook site might do what I asked about-

  6. FYI the link here is not to the same Lefsetz article referenced earlier- here's the Wilco mention I'm referring to-

"Brands kill bands. But businessmen love to commission and players are so angry no one knows them they tie in with corporations to get ahead but they’re being left behind. Your best hope is to align yourself with those who care, your fans, who will ensure longevity if you play it right. Best example, Wilco. The press loves them, their fans do too, and nobody who doesn’t care already ever will. This is the modern paradigm. Just as long as you’re willing to be Wilco. (And no amount of press about their free album in an era where everything is free and Jeff Tweedy’s album with his son will make anybody listen to the music who hasn’t been listening already. This is akin to Phish. It’s the same damn 20k at every gig. We know who the band is, we don’t want to go. But Phish is rich on the backs of these fans. And their business sustains without media attention. And both Wilco and Phish have never sold out and their careers have lasted decades when popsters can’t draw an audience a year after their last hit.)"
