2 listens in and really loving this one. You get the feeling this guy hasn't peaked.
-
Definitely one of my top 3 bands at the moment. I think Born on Flag Day is even better.
-
Finally...somebody has some love for The Deep Vibration!
absolutely. I loved their previous ep. The new one is completely different but I like the track they are on. I really need to see those guys.
-
Middle Brother - S/T
The Deep Vibration - Strange Love
Buffalo Tom - Skins
Centro-Matic - Candidate Waltz
Rural Alberta Advantage - Departing
on or near the list:
J Mascis - Several Shades of Why
Okkervil River - I am Very Far
Hayes Carll - KMAG YOYO
Silos - Florizona
Dawes - Nothing is Wrong
-
Still liking this one ...
agreed...I haven't put this one away for a full week since picking it up.
-
Ordered mine too. Enjoying the immediate download. Sounds good. I wish Centro-matic was playing somewhere closer to me than atlanta this summer. Last winter got to see Will and Anders Parker on the living room tour and Will was great (so was anders).
I was looking at this but it didn't mention immediate download. Heading back. Thanks!

Steve was on qtv recently. Apparently he and Alison are having a baby. Weird
Yea, I saw him last night at a little radio gig that I won tickets to. Great stuff. He mentioned the baby, John Henry, and how that slowed him down from touring with Allison.
He played a few songs from the new album along with a couple of others. All sounded great despite some technical difficulties.
I've listened to the new album 3 or 4 times through and think it's great. Also a bit of a grower. This guy is in quite an artistic peak with a novel, acting, new album and a play in the works. Keep 'em coming Steve.

I thought there was an Amazon thread somewhere but this one will do.
A great album. The Silos released a new one and it sounds great. $5 on Amazon now:

As a guy that dislikes Dave Matthews and is not a fan of a festival, this looks to be a very interesting one. Emmylou, DBT, Alberta Cross, Sharon Jones, Daniel Lanois, The Jayhawks, Flaming Lips, G-Love. Sounds good.
That, plus Dave plays a full set each night. This would assure me the ability to get home early. Will have to give this some thought.

An intimate concert and interview with indie-rock band, Delta Spirit. Performances include "Bushwick Blues", "White Table", "Ransom Man" and "Scarecrow". With host, Nic Harcourt.
Premieres April 9th if you have DirecTV. This has quickly become one of my favorite bands and a must-see on the next tour. They have also helped me to give Dawes another chance, and I'm glad I did!!
awesome... these guys are definitely one of my favorites right now along w/Deer Tick. Loving the Middle Brother album.
-
Really impressed with this one.
Ditto that

It's funny, just about like U2, I think at this point I like the acoustic and/or slow songs better than whatever rocking songs they come up with. At least neither band is putting out albums of cover songs. And I hope they never do.
Maybe because their old.

Either this is just an awesome album or I'm in the perfect mood for an album just like this one.
J at his most mellow and a host of guest stars like Ben Bridwell and Kurt Vile...amongst others.
-
Yes, I've posted my very brief and initial feelings in the Now Playing thread. Three of my favorite artists in a supergroup nobody has heard of. I never would have linked these bands from listening to them individually but I'm glad that they hooked up. After 4 or 5 listens I'm really liking the album as a whole. The Replacements cover is solid and fits in well with the sound of the album. I'd like to check them out on this tour but doesn't look like it's in the cards for me. Delta Spirit and Deer Tick are very solid live...haven't seen Dawes. Would love to see these guys together.
-
New Middle Brother album. I really like it after three or four spins. Love the Replacements cover...nice choice.
-
^^ wish I loved that more than I do considering how much I LOVE Dawes & Delta Spirit (and like Deer Tick), but there's certainly a decent bit to enjoy on it, and it's at least better than Monsters of Folk.
mostly excited for the tour
Well that's concerning. Coincidentally, Delta Spirit and Deer Tick are two of my favorite bands to come out in the last 10 years. I like Dawes quite a bit as well. Was shocked that they were making an album together. I'll have to hunt this one down.
-
After a couple of spins, I'm really liking the new one. Agree with Pulaski but I Do Believe is also extremely catchy. Although I miss Isbell, the timing seemed right to me. Great to see him solo. I do think Cooley should have picked up the slack rather than Shonna though. Her songs are nice but just don't fit the Truckers albums well to me. I'll have to check out that dockumentary
-
Add me to this small pile of fans. I'm looking forward to listening to the new one. Love Veracruz and don't hear a single comparitive note with Uncle Tupelo or Wilco.
-
I really can't stand Colin Meloy. I'm not gonna get into it right now. However, I was thinking about giving them another shot when this came out. Gillian Welch and Peter Buck? Has to be pretty cool. Worth a shot?
Yes, it's good.

I agree on all counts. The new album is solid but I'm still easing into it. I really liked You Can't Win. Not sure if they tour much but would like to see them come through the midwest.
-
very cool song. I'd like to see him put out a full solo album. I loved 1372's big sound but would really like to hear something like his solo EP again.
-
This.
I especially don't get the hate for Shepherd's Dog. It's a great record, as are all of his so far.
Agreed. I also like the Fall 2007 version of Shepard's Dog that he released with alternate versions.
I'm really liking the new one quite a bit.

Kiss Each Other Clean has leaked.
And it's awesome. Really liking it one listen through.

He makes this a very nice tune.
