  1. i love the guy. Daring Adventures is a great album, as is the stuff he did with Linda "Shoot Out the Lights", there is a 3 cd best of collection out there and that would be the best place to start, I think. He hasn't really had a folk album versus a pop album per se, they're all kind of mixed. Rumour and Sigh is a great album too..
  2. What gives? There was a lot of griping about Wilco music in a VW commercial but this is too much for me, seeing Bob behind the wheel of an Escalade with a cheesy monologue playing in the background. It was like he poured gasoline on Blood on the Tracks and lit the whole thing on fire.
  3. Thanks for sharing that. I can't imagine JT being too thrilled with the football chants though...
  4. I co-edit a no-budget litzine called Literary Tonic. We are open for submissions and we're looking for poetry and flash fiction (500 words max) that is gritty, raw and real. We started the site back in July and we were also open to reviews of local bands anywhere in the world. We haven't received any yet and I was hoping some members of VC might be able to come up with something. Thanks in advance.. http://literarytonic.wordpress.com/
  5. let's just face it, corporations run our lives, starting with our government trickling all the way down to the cereal our kids scoop into their mouthes. Entertainment in all forms is no different, radio, books, film, whatever. I bet Bruce is somewhat proud he's not on mainstream radio, he apparently doesn't need the airplay to sell records.
  6. I went with The Bends. I am pretty much hooked. Like the title song a lot as well as Fake Plastic Trees. Will gather more albums as economics permit.
  7. Scott Skiles and Kobe? The Bulls are asking for it...
  8. It's a tie between Ok Computer and The Bends. I was hoping for something a little more decisive, I will make my pick based on price, or the cover, or eenie meenie minie moe. Thanks for all the recommendations!
  9. I'm just getting into this band. I don't know how they've escaped me for so many years but anyway; what's a good first album to start with?
  10. who cares? the shins are decent but I can think of a lot of crappy bands that sell a whole lot more albums than Wilco.
  11. that was the best fucking show I've ever seen in my entire life and yeah, I don't get out much, but holy shit. And I don't want to make this an OSU and U of M thing but Jeff did say Columbus was a bunch of pussies compared to the Detroit Rock City crowd, but then again, what should one expect? We're often drunk here and have a lot of unemployment... what else is there?
