  1. Wilco has such wonderful fans! We are all very lucky. And congrats on them babies!!!
  2. I have to get personal here. Please forgive me, but this record demands it. Having this arrive as I face both my 60th birthday and the 10th anniversary of my husband's death early next year, as I struggle with the end of a 4-year-long relationship I thought would fill the rest of my life (and the disintegration of the decade-long friendship from which it grew)---not to mention the coming political Armageddon---made Schmilco the most disturbing Wilcowork I ever encountered. They created the soundtrack to my annihilation, I thought. Jeff being Jeff, of course, the more I listen, the more I
  3. Thanks for your help. I'll crawl back under my rock now!
  4. Forgive me if this has appeared on the forum before, but Eric Church's (big Country artist) current hit "Mr. Misunderstood" namechecks Jeff Tweedy, Elvis Costello, and Wylie Ray Hubbard in the first verse. I only work for a country station, but a friend who actually listens to it brought me up to speed on this unexpected honor for Mr. Tweedy a few days ago. Anyone else hear this?
  5. I didn't want to interfere with the previous poster, but I, too, have an extra bed at the Willows. My (adult) offspring and I are driving in Thursday and leaving Monday, so the space is available for any or all of those four nights. We shower regularly, do not snore, and have never been convicted of any felonies. Just ask Kidsmoke or Wilco Me. Time is getting short, so et's make a deal! And I meant "let's". I am old. Thank you.
  6. We had a great time, except for the heat and the two zuds next to us who left for more beer halfway through and never came back, thank god. The band was amazingly energetic. Best non-turd banter: Jeff announced that the venue smelled like root beer, then recalled that Brooklyn smelled like bacon. "Like a Morrissey anxiety dream", he explained.
  7. Always knew there was something nutty about you, girl! I can see only one show between last year's Solid Sound and next year's SS (pretty please, oh Wilco gods)---Columbus on August 4. I'm making the trip with my daughter and two of her college friends---one of whom can drive a stick and will come in very handy during the long, late-night journey home.
  8. Despite the fact that I don't post here often due to (mostly) extreme laziness, I must give thanks and big thumbs up to Wilco Me, Kidsmoke, and Son of Kidsmoke for pretty much making my trips to Solid Sound I and II possible. But then I think most Wilcofolk are all-around decent people, as far as I can tell.
  9. This is how I tell it. I'm thankful for the critics whose praise first steered me to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, but it doesn't matter what they write now. Jeff Tweedy is the Real Deal, an unashamed traditionalist who seems to wholeheartedly believe in family---in every sense of the word. And I'm part of that family. It may be the Midwestern, middle-class, and middle-aged pot we both stew in, but---because of Jeff---WIlco feels like home to me, and I"ll always be grateful. And I wholly love TWL---except for "Sunloathe", maybe.
  10. Thanks for the fix! The guys really conjured up a keeper with this one. It's pure magic. (I'm so glad they use their powers for good.) To my ears, though, it sounds like "how I'll tell it" at the beginning and end, and maybe "long lie" in the 5th verse. We'll just have to wait another three long weeks to find out for sure.
  11. Wow, you guys deserve an award! At least a samosa. Congratulations on making it home, and thanks again for hauling our butts from the Buckeye State and back. It already seems so long ago...
  12. I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy large portions of it.
  13. Apparently, the best chance for a reunion will be during Uncle Tupelo's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2015. Also apparently, that needs to be one of the ceremonies held in Cleveland (said the fan just down the road in Canton).
  14. No one mentioned this (that I saw, anyway), but a few weeks ago the boys made the Newsweek Perspectives page. "'His tastes trend more towards Wilco and the Killers, but...he'll take support anywhere he can get it.' Jim Manley, a spokesman for Harry Reid, on Lady Gaga pushing the Senate majority leader to bring up 'don't ask, don't tell' for a vote."
  15. Cracked & hooked probably said it best, but how wonderful to read so many positive posts. I mean, how often does that happen? Our gratitude is genuine, and I hope the musicians, the museum, and the people of North Adams are heartened by it. I can't add much, except a (very) little haiku... Weathered walls embrace the giddy celebration--- Wilco are we all. Hugs to Diane, Donna, and Brennan!
  16. Remembering that this is a family event: Holysh*t (Sue) Canton OH The Not-So-Lonely 1
  17. So here's a question I hope someone out there can help me with. I know what days which bands are playing, but WHEN? Wilco and Jeff + top the lists on Saturday and Sunday, respectively, but that doesn't mean they'll be first to hit the stage, does it? I'd expect the headliners to play last---or at least, after dark. Saturday luncheon plans with an email friend I've yet to meet despite 7 years of correspondence hang in the balance. Thanks, everyone!
  18. Congratulations! Mayve you can write us a haiku on your experiences playing it. Just don't begin with "You bunch of losers..."
  19. I am sure, Mr. Kinsley, that your students are/will be thrilled to hear of your Major Award! The accusations of cheating will come a little later. I would be interested in a swap, if it doesn't make us look like total ingrates. I haven't received any official notice from them, though; have you? They must have my email address, but nothing more. By the way, good going on your first place finish; mine was the "smoking towers" one. And thumbs up to Sir Stewart, too! God, we're all so creative.
  20. I won what I already have---W(TA) vinyl and a tote---but am thrilled to be starting out the new year on such a positive note! Congratulations to everyone else here who got a nod...and did anyone in the band actually read the entries? That's almost scary...
  21. Two from me, as well. everlasting drone more lyrical than lyrics love is all there is smoking towers fell discordant intervention healed my broken heart Some of these have made for great reading; thanks, everyone!
  22. Garrison's heavy breathing gets pretty tiresome sometimes, and he's got a face for radio, but the man had a stroke---for real!---just a few weeks ago so we're lucky there's a PHC for Wilco to adorn this Saturday at all. Let us be thankful.
  23. 10-16-2207 Wexner Center Columbus OH 02-22-2008 Lakewood Civic Auditorium Lakewood OH 04-17-2009 Memorial Auditorium Athens OH ...and back at Wexner this October, I hope!
  24. Myabe it's just my computer, but I can't access any info through the "info" box on the "shows" page at wilcoworld. So I tried the Wexner Center site, which says concert tickets go on sale to Wexner members and Wilco Fan Club this Wednesday, the 29th. Wilco Fan Club? How do I join THAT? Please help, oh great fountains of Wilcowisdom! MAYBE. I meant MAYBE.
