So sorry you couldn't make it. Not trying to rub it in, but October's a great time to visit NOLA. I wasn't dying in the heat while waiting for the doors to open. Next time!

I thought they were set to release multiple albums this year. Haven't heard any recent rumblings about that though.

It was the best run of shows I've ever experienced. The downside is that by Friday night I was so tired I actually have no recollection of Spoon covering John Lennon's "Isolation" during the encore. And I was totally sober. It was an epic week of live music the memories of which I'll always treasure.

Spoon! Again! Best four-night run of shows I may ever enjoy - two nights of Wilco followed by two nights of Spoon.

Bummer. I'm sorry they weren't on top of their game. For me the overly aggressive audience put a damper on their NOLA show.

None taken! Since it had been quite a while since they last played in NOLA (and since I was there for the shows this week), I figured I'd do my part and actually contribute something more than posts in the "Live Tonight" or "Now Playing." threads. -

Not sure how much I can get out at this point in the night, but here goes. Another great performance tonight. Because they performed a mostly different set of songs, tonight's set was more predictable than night one. There were more fan favorites in tonight's set. Old fans like me always appreciate hearing "Box Full of Letters," "Monday," and "Outtasite (Outta Mind)." And it's always cool to hear John sing "It's Just That Simple." A few nice surprises included songs from Star Wars, Schmilco, and Ode to Joy. And I was happy to again hear more songs from Cruel Country. To me they seem to have mo -

I thought the crowd was pretty lively although everyone around me save for one had traveled from out of state for the shows. I was in the front though with people who all seemed very much into the performance. I'll take a little bit subdued over some of the more rowdy and even aggressive crowds I've encountered at shows here recently. At the Afghan Whigs show a week and a half ago people were being dragged out of the venue by security, and it seemed that some people were jonesing for a fight. I vacated my spot near the front at that show because it just wasn't enjoyable. Not because of the ban -

It had been one day shot of five years since my last proper Wilco show. I last attended a non-festival performance at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis on October 5, 2017. Last night's show more than made up for the gap in time. In fact it may have been the most energetic Wilco set I've ever witnessed. And I was psyched because they're playing in my backyard (NOLA) for the first time in a while. Local favorites Quintron & Miss Pussycat opened and delivered the goods as usual. It was the first Wilco concert for the woman in front of me. She picked a good one for her first. It was an incredibly -
Now that it's after midnight...WILCO! My first proper Wilco show in five years.

The show itself was great, but the venue left a lot to be desired. There are far better places to play in New Orleans. I tried to take a picture of the setlist on the stage, but the stage lighting wouldn't allow for it. Don't think they played "Faded," but they did play a lot of my favorites ("A Line of Shots" sounds incredible live) and closed with the Smiths' "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out." I'm hoping someone will post the setlist on setlist.fm. You're in for a fun evening for sure.

What New Band have You Fallen Under the Spell of?
Boss_Tweedy replied to kidsmoke's topic in Someone Else's Song
Sweeping Promises. They opened for the Mountain Goats last night in NOLA, and they certainly didn't seem like an opener. I only missed about 10 minutes of the set, but I hate that I missed any of it. Definitely a band to keep an eye on. https://www.stereogum.com/2170938/band-to-watch-sweeping-promises/interviews/band-to-watch/ -
The Mountain Goats (provided that I can get over the heavy punch packed by the new COVID booster).

I'm seeing them for the first time in New Orleans next month. Based on what I've read about previous performances I'm excited about it.

Happy birthday, Jeff! See ya in NOLA in October!

I couldn't agree more. His enshrinement is long overdue.

One more thing I failed to mention in my last post: I can't agree more with you, Donna, about Wilco and everyone associated with the band. They're all so easy to love. Every time I've interacted with a band member, a family member, or someone who represents the band in some capacity, I've left the encounter reaffirmed in my faith in all things Wilco. I'm so thankful for the generosity of the guys and to the good people who work behind the scenes on their behalf.

As I've mentioned previously I couldn't have done it without you. I hope you know much I appreciate you. I may have a few more pics on my pocket camera (probably none of Murph and me though), but here are a few pics from the game. For those who aren't aware three high school friends and I had been planning the get-together at the game (and specifically to attend one of the "Dale Murphy MVP Experiences" that are held during the baseball season) for about two and a half years. Unfortunately one of our friends tested positive for COVID last Friday, so she was unable to attend. We got her a baseba

I've been a Wilco fan almost since day one, but I've been a fan of fellow Wilco lover Dale Murphy since I was seven (1982). Each year during baseball season Dale hosts several "Dale Murphy MVP Experiences" at Braves games in Atlanta. A few high school friends and I had been talking about meeting for one of these events for the last couple of years. At some point in late 2020 or early last year I started thinking about how great it would be to do something for Murph since he'd meant so much to me for so long. A few years ago he came to my area to give a presentation about his career and the gam
