If Jay-Z is in the Rock & Roll HOF, how is John Prine not in?

Perfect example of why I no longer get worked up about the RRHOF and who is/isn't inducted.  The simple fact is that induction is based on popularity and commercial success (with very few exceptions).  It's no more meaningful than a Billboard award.

I love Devo.  More than the Go-Gos.  Both deserve to get in.  But I am curious why you think Devo deserves it more.

I think Devo was much more influential to other 80's New Wave bands than the Go-Go's, especially given that they only lasted what - 4 or 5 years?  Yes, the Go-Go's had bigger hits than Devo but I don't believe that's the most important criteria.

  4. This could be beautiful once everything is counted.  There's a good chance that Biden will be over 300 EC votes and will have over 5 million more popular votes than Trump.  It only looked bad at first due to all of the mail-in ballots and those states which had laws preventing them from early counting.

Of course, Trump says this is evidence of fraud, but I don't think anyone but his most ardent zealots believe him.  It would be different if the whole thing hinged on one state, but it doesn't look like it's going to be that close.  He's toast.

  5. I couldn't believe we elected him in 2016, and I can't believe it's this close after 4 long years.  The good news is that it appears Biden will eek out a win (WI and MI were just called), but it shouldn't have been this close.

I still preferred HBO’s Watchmen which I don’t think anyone mentioned in here. It helped to be familiar with the original source material. I was worried that a sequel or “remix” would never work, but was blown away by the storyline and how it tied to current times.

Yeah, I'm definitely interested in checking out the Watchmen after seeing Lovecraft Country.

In response to ih8music's post from 10/22 about Lovecraft Country: Yes I watched, and LOVED it. I don't recall ever being simultaneously so confused and so consumed by anything that wasn't a David Lynch project. So much fun.

No kidding.  We finished the finale this past weekend.  Those last 3-4 episodes of the season were such a mind-f*ck.

Love this show so much, on many levels -- just not sure what they can do for season 2.

  8. VH was a huge part of the soundtrack of my youth (grade school -> jr. high) but their music never stuck with me beyond that.

That said, EVH always seemed to be enjoying the hell out of making music and that's as good of a legacy to leave as any.
