  1. Thanks, Atticus! This is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. Perhaps I can find a used one a bit cheaper. The search continues!
  2. I'm wondering if you guys have a better idea for the vision I've got for building my first pedal board. Any advice or ideas are appreciated-thanks! I'd like to build a board that allows me to connect to two different guitars (acoustic and electric), going to two different outputs. Ideally, my electric can go to a distortion pedal and then to my Fender Vibro Champ. I've got a DI and a couple other pedals for my acoustic. I can only think of two possible avenues to take here: find/build an A/B switch that's got two inputs and two outputs, or use a volume pedal that's got two inputs/outputs.
  3. My Goodness, this performance is a world away from what I saw in Detroit at the very beginning of their tour. Kudos to the band!
  4. Rhett just sat for a conversation on Marc Maron's WTF podcast. I've always been a fan of the music but didn't know much about the rest. The interview was insightful, to say the least. It's free, so have a listen. http://www.wtfpod.com/podcast/episodes/episode_554_-_rhett_miller
  5. We'll be at the Cass Cafe tonight beforehand, if anyone's in town and has nothing to do. Have a great show, everyone!
  6. I'm curious to know if anyone else feels a bit... duped by the latency of information leaking out about the upcoming shows? First it's Jeff Tweedy, then it's Jeff Tweedy fronting his new/side/solo band and now there's a comic opening for him in Detroit. I would have bought tickets anyway. I'd take Jeff Tweedy reading War and Peace on stage over no Jeff Tweedy at all, but I wish they would have been more forthcoming before tickets went on sale. Of the six people in our group, two haven't seen him perform live in a solo setting. They may not have been as keen to purchase if they knew all of
  7. Just scored 6 tickets on the main floor in Detroit. I tired using the 'picket a ticket on our map' feature and got shut out. Choosing Best Available and having them pick for me took a few minutes, but finally went through.
  8. Do NOT stay in the Cass Corridor. The area once known for pimps, prostitutes and drugs has done a lot of cleaning up, it's true. But I wouldn't stay there. I'm not really sure what your budget is, so best bet will be to check out reviews on Priceline, Expedia, Yelp and whatnot.
  9. I'm not arguing the recording process. I'm just suggesting a few of the tunes seem to be out of step with their progression as songwriters. Don't get me wrong-I like the band and I like the album. It's quite possible that I just set my hopes too high on this release.
  10. I've been a Dawes fan since catching them at the Ann Aarbor Folk Fest a couple years back. They're show was jawdropping to me. The best way I can describe that experience and their music is that (without knowing a lick of their music) I immediately felt this sense that I'd heard their stuff before. Not in a bland/generic way, but in a 'where the *hell* has this music been for all of my life?' way. I got into Nothing Is Wrong first and moved to the more acoustic-based North Hills after that. The above background aside, this record hasn't clicked for me just quite yet. It's hard to put a
  11. I'm thinking about buying an Epiphone EJ160E (John Lennon acoustic/electric). Reviews look good on the net, but I'd like to get opinions from the folks on here. Anyone care to share stories/reviews/tips, etc? Guitar Center has it fro $600, but I've seen them for $500. I play an Ovation Celebrity and a Washburn Festival series now. http://www.epiphone.com/Products/Acoustic-Elec/John-Lennon-EJ-160E.aspx Thanks in advance!
  12. I'm just jumping into this conversation, but from what I understand, Romney's assertion that 200-250K is middle income stands at a household level, not individual. I don't believe in the man or his politics, and to think even 100K for two individuals shows a lack of awareness that is striking, but it's important to note.
  13. Thanks. I searched that thread a while back, but I'll post there instead of just poking around this time. In regards to 'thanks in advance'... I dunno... I didn't really think about my choice of words when composing the question. I've met some real dick tapers in the past and I guess I wanted to show my appreciation for someone's hard work (and hopefully their sharing tendencies). That way, if the unknown taper wasn't sure about sending a copy my way, they may be swayed by my advance thank you. While we're at, let's discuss your use of the word 'score'... Just kidding. Had to show a
  14. Sorry to bump this, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen this show around or may know of someone who hasn't shared with the general public? Thanks in advance.
  15. For what it's worth, my listening to the Demos and Engineer's Demos FAR outweighs my listening of the studio release. It would be great to get that stuff in an official capacity. As for more film footage, I'd buy anything and everything I could get my hands on from the making of that album (and the time period around it). I started listening to the band because of that album.
  16. Sorry if this was posted earlier, but doesn't the verse structure of Dawned on Me sound EXACTLY the same as Glad It's Over? It's almost as if they decided this alternative incarnation of the melody fits better. I didn't mind Glad It's Over, but this is much better. So far.
  17. Maker's has been my favorite since around 2000 and I even have a cool story as to why it's so... I was attending the high school graduation party of my girlfriend's little brother. The party was rolling, the keg was kicking and everyone was enjoying themselves. Halfway through my gf's Dad (some big-shot, Southern lawyer) asked me to go make him a Maker's and soda. So I go over to the table and wait for the woman in front of me to finish making her drink (also Maker's, but on the rocks). When I reached for the bourbon bottle she smiled and asked why I chose that one. I replied that I'd n
  18. Great bump! It was definitely my favorite-est Wilco show to date! These days, as a part of a cost-cutting motion, I've decided against seeing the same band on the same tour on different nights. May have to see if I can score some tickets to the Ann Arbor show next month though! But how can upper balcony at the Hill compare to 7th or 8th row (dead center) at the Royal Oak Music Theater?
  19. I'll be there, along with some friends. The Royal Oak Music Theater is a pretty cool venue and you can get pretty close up front if you get there early enough. It's too bad you went for eBay, though. From what I understand there are still tickets left...
