  1. This show was so much fun. I was on the floor and there was a lot of energy down there - a few standers but the sitters mostly won until the end of the show. At Shot everyone on the floor was up and remained up throughout the entire encore.

The Spiders Singalong was so fun. It reminded me of a Cake concert where John encourages the crowd to free themselves and revel in the joy of singing along. Jeff gave a similar shpiel - in a way that fit his personality. Also it was just a real mean version of Spiders overall. Jeff's guitar work was superbly weird and great.

I also really enjoyed the dueling guitars from Jeff and Nels at the end of Handshake Drugs - it was a rocking version with a very psychedelic ocean of feedback ending.

New songs are incredible live. Pittsburgh is an amazing show opener. The band is feeling very Pink Floyd in a lot of ways on these new songs. The new songs also feel right at home amongst all the Ghost Is Born songs that are popping up on these setlists.

This is the first show I've seen since SS22. The CC songs have really matured over time. Bird is just a fantastic set piece. It went to some amazing places - jazz, psych, raucousness, etc. Really a strong live track that shows off Pat and Nels.

Misunderstood and Shot were killer. They had a lot of energy and the crowd seemed very into them - singing along and loud.

I love the version of IATTBYH that they having been doing since the YHF shows, where it's closer to the album version than what they played for years.

Just got home from Night 2 and it was awesome and about half of the set was different songs. Will comment on the thread when it pops up - we did get Sunlight Ends at Night 2 and it was soooooooooooo good. Also Hell is Chrome opener.

  2. So excited for some non-festival LA shows! My Wife and I got tickets to night 1 at Ace Theatre and The Bellwether (super excited for a GA/Standing show). We may still try to get the other 2 nights at Ace Theatre... we'll see how it goes.

That would be weird indeed. I guess NY is in the same boat as Chicago where both got the Yankee tour but not yet the CC tour. Some other notable major markets that haven't seen shows/upcoming dates for CC are Austin/Dallas/San Francisco/Seattle. So maybe there is hope for a '23 winter theater tour. I hope so. The CC tour impressed me more than I thought it would.

Also "technically" no LA, for CC since they are playing close to here doing a set at the beach fest and I'm sure that booking restricts doing other shows in the area within a certain time period . I'd bet there's proper shows to showcase the new record in a lot of these bigger cities sometime next year.

saw this posted on shot in the arm, wanted to share it here as well. Looks like LA residents will get a show after all If this article is correct…..

I'll pass on a local festival at $300 per person. Glad I caught the three magical shows back in October at The Palladium/Orpheum and even gladder to be attending Solid Sound in less than 2 weeks.

There's something uncharacteristically on the nose about hearing Jeff Tweedy singing the words "red, white, and blue". This could be a hint of an album that dispenses with exploring the American mythos through abstraction, like the band often has, and instead states ideas plainly.

The songwriting of Fallin Apart, as well as other new tracks that he's played live or on the Tweedy show definitely have a more finely pointed direction than say the haphazard poetry of a song like I Might.

  6. Cruel Country? Double Album? So excited for some new Wilco and very excited to be attending Solid Sound this year with some new material coming out. Maybe they play the whole thing on Friday?

IMO the drone on AGIB is one of the very things that makes that album "better" than YHF (not that I intend to put any shade on YHF)

  7. Just released another new single this week. Check out Miles And Miles! This is an old song that I just re-recorded. My wife got a new piano at the beginning of the year and it has the most beautiful sound. We captured it for this new release. This is also my first time recording the Taylor 12 String my wife got me for my birthday last year. This track definitely has some Wilco vibes. It also feels pretty 90's. I'm really happy with the way it came out.

  8. Just received emails about the 2 Largo shows I had tickets to. My emails said that the 12/30 show is now rescheduled for 3/1 and the 1/1 show is now rescheduled for 2/24. Wonder if they will be reversing the order and doing the Tweedy band shows first with the 3 solo shows to follow?

  9. Just streamed Jeff's new release on Spotify. I just love the album so much to begin with and these live recordings are so great. It's honestly really close to the way the record sounds but you're listening and knowing they are all there in the room playing and singing it all together. I'm even more psyched to see the Tweedy band at Largo on the first day of 2022!

  10. I think my wife and I are going for it and doing Solid Sound this year!

We booked a room in an Airbnb about 40 minutes outside North Adams that was comparable to the price of most of the camping around the area. We would have also had to rent camping equipment or a camper van, as we will be flying out from CA and a room seemed the cheaper option.

We are going to grab the earlybird passes on Friday. So excited!

The  Wiltern Theater run in 2012, I think, was so fantastic with all the covers they were playing then (It Makes No Difference, Rocket Man), a return to that venue would stoke me.  Pantages in Hollywood? Ace Theater downtown?  Something like that is probably gonna happen.

That Wiltern run was my first set of MMJ shows. It was glorious.

Pantages would be fun. I saw Brian Wilson do Pet Sounds there and it was a cool place to see a show. Ace Theatre is one of my very favorite venues in LA - small-ish and great sound. Would love to see MMJ there. I also would love to see them do a run at a non-seated venue again though or maybe do something like Wilco did with one GA standing room only show and a couple seated theatre shows.

I went to that show too and I concur.  If you want answers to a lot of the questions we were asking or theories we were posting in this thread the last two years, the Relix mag. cover story pretty much answers them all.

My Morning Jacket did pretty much break up or at least indefinite hiatus but they reassessed, worked it out, got stoked and they are back big time!  It was clear as can be in that performance that they are loving being MMJ again, they understand what they have to offer the world and how precious it is to them.  It was my first show since 2015, everything about it from the band's performance to the crowd, the venue, the road trip over from AZ with friends, was a big welcome back celebration.

Where's the next show???  More multi-night runs are what they are mentioning to make touring better for them and more sustainable as a lifestyle.  I'm all for it, did you see the setlists from three nights in Chicago last week?  Killer!

Really hoping we get a multi-night LA run in 2022!

I had a friend who went to Chicago and I was very jealous of those crazy setlists, however I'm grateful for that SB show. It was pure joy. Where To Begin in SB was just like ultimate bliss. Glad to know a fellow witness to the glory of that show. Grateful they found what they needed to keep the magic alive.

  13. This show was one for the books. Great crowd energy. The band was really enjoying it.

    MUZZLE OF BEEEEEEEEEES!

That might have been the best IG there ever was. Did anyone clock that one? I think it must have been at least 10 minutes.

Loved Ashes, even without the jam - especially kicking off the run of songs that followed through Laminated Cat. Grateful to get the How To Fight>Sunken>Lammy Cat trifecta again. As bbop mentioned previously, Laminated Cat is hitting at legendary-set staple levels. It is so psychedelic and experiential and raw.

On a Sunken Treasure note - I noticed that Jeff did "It's not the same without rock n' roll" tonight and he didn't do that one at the Palladium version. I always love that little addition, so it was cool to hear it live.

My first time hearing Either Way live! It was so good.

I'm so thrilled I got to see all these shows. It was so cathartic and flat out rockin. I danced my butt off all 3 nights. Can't wait to do it again. Thank you Wilco and Wilcrew!

  14. I could not have asked for anything more for my first Wilco show back after the past few years. They rocked the f out. It was truly balls to the wall, which suited the venue. I've been to a few show post-covid but all have been large, mostly outdoor venues (MMJ at SB Bowl, Van Morrison at Hollywood Bowl, Stones at Sofi Stadium). I can honestly say that none of those shows can hold a candle to being on the rail at a super rocking Wilco show. I was lucky that my wife was so awesome to go stand in line early and get us a good spot, while I finished work on Saturday. We had a spot on the rail right in front of Nels (always a good spot to stand). I couldn't believe how therapeutic it was to be at a sweaty rock show, dancing and grooving and getting our faces completely melted off in a way none of those other bands we've seen quite reached. I'll be completely honest in my bias toward Wilco. Seeing the Stones for my first time was completely amazing and MMJ play4ed one of the best shows I've seen them play in many years of seeing them, but nothing quite matched the energy of a great Wilco show - which the Palladium totally was. I never imagined I'd see a Wilco show that included this brilliant run of songs -

    How To Fight Loneliness

    Sunken Treasure

Laminated Cat (aka Not For The Season)

Not to mention it was preceeded by the great duo of IATTBYH/Art Of Almost and followed up by a truly epic Pot Kettle Black and Impossible Germany. The band is truly on fire and their joy and enthusiasm for being able to play together again is really coming through in the show.

I'm thrilled to be back at it for the next 2 nights at The Orpheum. Though it's a seated venue, I don't know if I'll be able to contain myself to a seat and I probably won't really try too hard. Here's hoping we get some more songs of OTJ (Bright Leaves is AMAZING - all the songs they played from OTJ were fantastic). I'd love to see a Spiders encore. Muzzle Of Bees would be a treat. I'm sure they will keep mixing it up for the 3 night run and I'm excited to see what they bring.

Donna - I was only a few people down the rail from you but I arrived late from work; and we stayed around after to try and get a setlist (unsuccessfully) after, so I also missed catching you. Maybe we can say hello again at one of the next few shows!

It truly was a great one. This actually marked just over 10 years of seeing Wilco shows for me and my wife. I saw my first shows at The Wiltern in 2009 and we saw our first show together at Aspen Jazzfest in 2010. So happy to have a few more on the horizon.

new record coming. I unfortunately missed this tour, but have watched lots of live vids. This band is just relentless. I've always loved Jim's writing & singing, the whole band is now right up there with Wilco. Should I dare say, sometimes I love them more.

My wife and I saw them in Santa Barbara and they were just ON FIRE. We have seen them lots of times including NYE in Denver, Red Rocks, Jazzfest in NOLA and multiple times around LA - this show was among my favorite times we've seen them. Can't wait for the new record.

I'll see you there Dan! Save me a spot up front at the Palladium, that's GA I think? I had tickets for all these in the Pandemic Beforetimes, and those tickets are all being honored. I just re-found my paper tickets, safe in my file.:spider

Woohoo! Palladium is GA. I'll definitely be trying to get there early to get in line and get up front.

I was actually supposed to be out of town when the original shows were happening... of course there was no out of town and also no shows. haha I'm super glad I can make them this time around and that there were some tickets available. I couldn't pass up  going to all of them.
