  1. One advantage of living in the Raleigh area...I pretty much get anything from KungFu the same day it's shipped. Shipped Friday morning and was waiting for me Friday night. I bought the AMF CD box. Like a lot of folks here, I have quite a bit of the rare stuff, but from the time I saw the track listing it didn't matter, I couldn't wait to follow the rare and live tracks combo on a trip through their history. Amazing! A perfect gift to their fans. Only this band would do something like this.
  2. Thanks for the links. I've always felt the connection was maybe a bit contrived based on the fact that every so often a beat writer latches on to a connection between the two, but it's nice to read thoughts from someone who genuinely hears the same thing I do.
  3. Through the years I've learned there are two AMAZING things WILCO has done for me. First, I truly love just about anything they/Tweedy does. I'm guaranteed to find in each album too many songs that resonate so well with my life's experiences. Second, I grew up with a Beatles obsessed mother and, as a result, their music became an amzing backdrop as I grew up in the 70s. However, as I got older and began listening to metal (in Jr./HS) and later (in college) the Dead, The Black Crowes, Phish, etc, I forgot how awsome The Beatles were. It wasn't until I heard Summerteeth that I decided to crack
  4. Hey folks, I have an extra ticket for this show. Anyone interested? This will be, of course, for face. I'll throw a free beer in too. Seats are in Section 1, Row X $37.00 (seat plus $3 svc fee) PM me. Grant
  5. Assuming you didn't do the DPAC show poster...? The displayed poster looked like your work also. Too bad. The search continues. Great work, btw.
  6. I missed getting the last poster...so close. I was asking for it while the last one was being taken down from the display. If anyone is looking to rid themselves of one, I'll gladly take it off your hands. Considering they've put the Richmond poster up for sale, I'd think it's safe to say, all the DPAC posters are gone.
  7. Bring it on. Honestly, I'm just happy he's putting something out. If history repeats we might be able to look forward to a "Love Is Hell" type follow up.
  8. I'd have to put my favorites into 2 different buckets. 1. Bands I currently follow every move WILCO My Morning Jacket Ryan Adams Drive By Truckers 2. Bands I have personal connections to whether by coming of age or specific life experiences (CDs/albums are always close by) Genesis (Gabriel era) & Gabriel solo (big 4) Pink Floyd Beatles Iron Maiden Bruce Springsteen Van Halen & DLR (first concert was Eat 'Em and Smile tour) There's only one band that seems to fit both through the past 20 yrs - The Black Crowes
  9. I'm holding out on the pre order...I'm struggling with dropping some coin to add the shirt. Hitting the Saturday show in Raleigh this weekend. Figure I'll check out their swag table first. They're bound to have some sweet tour shirts. Can't wait for this one! The 40 Watts shows from last Jan sound great...the new stuff sounds great live!
  10. "A Day In The Life" is easily one song that everytime I hear I think, WILCO would destroy this.
  11. I was able to snag two for the Durham show. I can't wait! This will be my second time. Saw them when they played Cary 2 years back. I've been to too many shows in my life...been to some real good ones, but that Cary show completely converted me. Glad I was able to beat the sell out. Good luck to all who couldn't get theirs. I'm sure some more will be released as the date gets closer.
  12. I agree. EU is nowhere near a musical decline for MMJ. It, imho, was a risky move for them...pushed JJ's creativity, etc. (TA) doesn't take the same risks MMJ took with EU, but it is a great album and flows very nicely from one song to the next. Again, imho, it seems like Jeff and co were able to create a cumulative album that captures who/what WILCO is.
  13. Once...last year in Cary, NC. Throughout the yrs I've spent most of my time and money chasing The Black Crowes and Ryan Adams. I didn't really start to get WILCO until about 2 yrs ago. Now I rank them as one of my favs (Finally seeing them live did me in), so I have some catchin' up to do.
  14. I don't know about that. I'm a huge (H-U-G-E) DRA fan. But, (The Album) is a better album than Cardinology. Easy Tiger is a better album than SBS. Push, IMHO. Both have not produced completely mind blowing work in a few years, but both are still far and beyond putting out better stuff than 95% of the other bands out there. With the Cardinals break up, I can only hope when DRA works out whatever needs to be worked out he will come out of the gate with 05 quality stuff again. The only problem; being content with life tends to limit introspection, etc, etc...
