  1.

July 30th Winner: David Thoren (An undeveloped disposable camera from Wilco)

August 6th Winner: David Traviesa (Signed test pressing of Star Wars)

August 13th Winner: Adam Gray (Tickets to any 2015 headlining show + Preorder Tee + Print)

Two David T's - but not this David T.

I figure I've got no chance now, no way they draw a third David T.

  2. I almost chose that, or something like "Touchdown Nonbelievers" but they have a character limit for each field, so I'm not sure if it will work.

But that lyric brings up a question we may want to ponder - should we count TDs in our scoring if Jeff doesn't believe in them?

  3. St. Genevive can hold up the water, but saints don't bother, with a boring live show.

BTW at some '90s solo show Jeff sings the first line of that song as a joke, think it's '98 or '97. Can't for the life of me remember the date.

  4. :lol

I've seen him once, in Tampa, and he delivered a very measured but ultimately boring show. I think he's good at what he does, but he was as dull as a box of old hammers. Looked like he really would rather be anywhere else, too.

    Enjoy the tour, folks! YMMV

Yeah, if I recall we discussed him for a bit at SS before Mac DeMarco and you told me he's not so good live. Guess you won't be heading east to Winter Haven!

Also, that Winter Haven show is $100. He would have to play in my house and let me choose the set list before I'd pay that.

Nevermind then. 100 bucks is entirely too much money for a Jay Farrar solo show, or is that for the whole Gram Parsons fest thing? Almost as much as Solid Sound tix costs.

  5. In terms of effectiveness, even if I may not like all of his policies, our current President has gotten A LOT done, period. Now depending on your views this is either a good or bad thing, but he has passed a large amount of legislation (or rather, he has passed very influential pieces of legislation i.e. ACA) for one presidency.

I remember reading in like 2011 that his first term had been as "efficient" in terms of creating/changing policies as LBJ in the late '60s.

  6. Jay Farrar is also playing in Winter Haven, FL at the Gram Parsons festival in October. I might go to that, bit of a drive, but I've never seen Jay. Though after going through this thread and seeing everyone say he's bad live, maybe not.

To be honest was probably just going to get drunk and shout out obnoxious requests for Uncle Tupelo songs, probably all Jeff ones too.

  7. Some of the more electric songs on SW are tricky vocally - not even considering the clever links between different lyrics that are brilliant but make them harder to remember  - on the record he's singing pretty low, but and the vocal mix is low, but it fits in well with everything. I was sort of disappointed n the SW portion of the show from Outside Lands - though the rest was good (and as JT mentioned at this show, the crowd was pretty meh - Wilco feed off the crowd, I mean, worst case they shit out a great concert, but when the fans are into it too they really step up their game, as we all have witnessed I am sure) - and it's clear that Jeff's still feeling out the vocals for live versions of the songs.

They'll only improve, though I am a bit disappointed at the lack of variety in the non-SW portion of setlists in this August tour. Maybe I am being too demanding though.
