Unfortunately 3:10 lacked important elements that make a great western. Every great western needs it's moment of redemption, vindication and vengeance. There was plenty of western-like build up in Yuma but little payoff. There was a little redemption, I guess. Not much vindication and little to no vengeance. The final "showdown" if you could call it that was pretty bland and uneventful. I knew the movie would end poorly when a certain actor made a cameo appearance where the rail was being laid. Comparing it to The Unforgiven like some of the unknown critics listed during the promos should be a crime. It never even came close to the depth and character that the Unforgiven gave to the genre.

I agree that Ben Foster did a superb job and probably saved the movie at times for me. Crowe did a solid job as did Bale. In the end, I would say that 3:10 is to The Unforgiven as Sunshine is to 2001.

I'm loving it as well. I guess they changed this past Monday. I was pretty pumped when I heard the Whiskeytown and Waylon. Haven't heard Wilco on there yet but Son Volt was close enough.

I'm wondering if Willie has something to do with it considering he has voiceover promos every 10 minutes.

Oh, and I love any station that plays a healthy dose of Marshall Tucker Band and Little Feat.

The end of my reign has come and it's time to usher in a new regime to VC. It gives me great pleasure, and relief, to hand over the keys to Solace. He's been the nuts and bolts of this place for some time now and he will continue to do so from now on. I can rest easy knowing he will remain at the helm after I am gone. Send him a thanks if you get a chance. I know I will.

I've never been one for long goodbyes or sentimental farewells but I'll take a few moments to shed a few tears on my way out the door. VC has been a part of my life for over five years. I was there from the beginning and pushed through all the struggles to get this place hopping with the help of some good people. It certainly could not have been done without the original founder and co-owner, LLP. He's long since removed himself from the ranks but without him this place wouldn't even be here. I'll always be grateful for the chance he gave me and this site to create a great fan and trading community. One that wasn't available at the time.

Along the way some others were extremely helpful in getting this place to where it is now. The roots of VC will always be planted in gratitude for Jane (TimeLineChick). Together LLP, Jane and I sold our souls to create some buzz around this place and her setlists page. The prize back then was a spot on the links page at Wilcoworld. Luckily for us Wilco is one helluva supportive band. They took good care of us, gave us interviews and treated us with respect. A special thanks to Ken at Wilcoworld for being there for us in many ways. He made us, and me, feel like this place was an important link between the band and its fans. I am confident that the link will continue.

I'd also like to thank Derek and Jake from Glorious Noise. They helped us out in the early days considerably by letting us host the site until we could fly on our own. They were very instrumental in promoting the site and supporting it.

There's too many members to thank that's for sure. Especially from the early days. I'll always have a special place in my heart for Donna and Mart for being admins extraordinaires. Donna has always been the godmother of this place. Yes she can be tough with that ban and delete function but she's one of the warmest and kindest people I've ever known. She loves this place as much as anyone if not more. Thank you, Donna.

TG. I got to watch Tweedy's Gurl grow up through text. It's quite odd to think of it that way but I remember little Rosie as a 14 year old posting machine when there was about 35 members. She was a phenom! Same with Stardog. I think he was 16 when he first joined.

Well, I think that's about it. It's been a blessing far more than a curse and I owe that all to you guys. I could list a whole mess of members that have made this place great but I would never want to risk leaving a name or two off. Besides, this place is still in its becoming great stage. I appreciate all of you for what you do in your own individual ways. Thanks for all the donations and help in keep it going. This site will always need help in that way so feel free to give a dime or two whenever its feasible.

i'm merely afraid of the 'you're with us or you're against us' rhetoric taking on a more official and criminal tone.

i have love, pride and patriotism for this country because i have the right to speak up and blast the officials i either voted for or against without the fear of imprisonment or death. i refuse to have patriotism, pride or love for anything simply because i should. i have to earn my place in this world just like everyone else does. if you want my trust, faith and respect, earn it just like i have to day in and day out. that goes for the garbage man, the grocery store clerk and the president of the united states.

unfortunately the level of seriousness given to our government and its officials, their actions and their deeds are incredibly varied around this country. sometimes the only way you can reach potential voters is to find ways to get your feelings or message on tv or in the headlines.

Our leaders, elected or appointed, work and represent us as a country and as individuals to the rest of the world. If I disagree with the way things are being handled by those leaders, and I am outraged with how I'm being viewed (or threatened) by those affected by those global policies, I'm going to speak up about it any chance I get. I'm going to let my friends know, my family, the people running for office, the people in office, the news and even those that may like or dislike us all around the world. We live in a global society no matter what you believe. Our foreign policy and the manner in which we dictate that policy around the world is a disgrace.

The notion of speaking my mind and utilizing that god given right to do so is somehow an aid to the enemy is both ridiculous and bullshit. Trying to condition the people to keep quiet and just accept what you are given because it's improper or wrong to contest it is sketchy and goes against the freedoms in which I was raised.

Will Oliver Stone's words carry much weight in the world, I doubt it, but I have no problem with him stating them. I support his right to do so.

60s

although i think Exile is the greatest and Zep hit their prime during the 70s, rock used half the decade to become bloated monstrocities. not to even bring up soft rock and disco.

the 60s had so much more to offer from rock to pop, jazz to blues, ska to reggae. folk, country and gospel too. the changes, strides and revolutions within each genre have been unmatched since. the 70s had moments where all that change and progess was refined and developed to near perfection but a lot of it was bastardized as well.

word on the street is that there's a little ugliness brewing during the past few pages. you know i try to keep out of the RTT threads and let live but i was awoken with a warning post from my big dog nap. hopefully things have settled down and people can go their seperate ways peacefully. i appreciate it.
