  1. From the Wilco Store link (https://wilcostore.com/products/cruel-country-digital-download):

The dynamic Chicago rock band Wilco returns with its 12th studio album, the first of its kind. Cruel Country is the band's exploration of the genre they've often been defined by but, until now, never fully embraced. The double album features 21 Jeff Tweedy-penned tracks, made almost entirely of live takes, created with all six members together in The Loft for the first time since the 2011 release The Whole Love.

I'll never judge an album by one song, nor do I think it is a good idea to have expectations of an album. It just sets one up for disappointment. I think it is much better to go in without any preconceived notions about an album as a whole and not compare it to any other album. Just listen to it for what it is.

Maybe I have learnt a little bit from the Master having witnessed Bbop's miraculous powers of predicting which song is next based upon the guitars that come out.

    My guess would be RNG.

RNG doesn't have an E shape of a chord in it as it is in Drop D. My guess based on the guitar and chord shape, it is either Red-Eyed and Blue/I Got You or maybe Impossible Germany if that is an Am not an E.

  3. Once the sun set, it was a lovely evening, especially with a nice breeze.

I teared up twice. The first time was when it started. Just a pure emotional release of this being the first “normal” thing I’ve done since March of 2020. The second time was seeing Jeff tear up. I really feel for him and other artists who haven’t been able to perform for audiences in over a year.

  4. It's 19 years, isn't it?

First time hearing the “new” songs live. Drove back to Milwaukee after the show, playing the disc at near max level, and my buddy and I would look at each other and just shake our heads in amazement. Fabulous night.

I was also at this show! It was my 14th birthday present from my parents.

Oh that's a great backstory! So she wanted to remember how, or maybe check that her way was right.

How'd you know her in HS?

She was a grade lower than me and Wilco wasn't especially popular with high school students in the early to mid 2000s (shocker, I know). I think it was one of those things where someone said something along the lines of, "You know that one band you like? There's someone else here who actually likes them too."

It's really funny to me that Sima asked Jeff to show how to play Chinese Apple when she showed me how to play the riff back in high school.

  7. Listening and making music is literally the only thing that has seemed relatively normal during the pandemic. Making music at the very least gives me something to focus on besides the pandemic. I've lost interest in a lot of other things that I love like reading, cooking, gaming with my friends, and puzzling/playing cards with my wife. My job can be pretty punishing with the sheer amount of time in front of a screen (I'm a teacher and my district has no interest in improving remote learning conditions for their teachers and students) and I get constant migraines due to it.

Into the corner of the smile

    On your face
                 C D
