  1. Wow.  I purchased Nilsson Schmilsson when it came out in 1971 and always assumed Harry wrote that song.  Great catch.

I always liked Badfinger's a lot more. It feels like it has more raw emotion and less glitzy production.

(Someone in Chicago has to catch things better than Eloy--All the White Sox fans out there will get that joke)

  2. Very close to moving to the Twin Cities a few years ago. Absolutely adore the area. Such a tragic loss of life. I hope they charge, arrest, and successfully prosecute the other three officers involved in George Floyd’s death. Anything less than a successful prosecution will not be enough. This community suffered through enough with the acquittal of Philandro Castile’s killer. I am tired of hearing the “one bad apple” nonsense. That is utter bullshit. Time and time again, African-Americans are being murdered by people sworn to serve and protect. At what point during this officer’s 18 complaints against him does one have to realize, “Maybe this guy shouldn’t be in a position of power.” What is also bullshit that an African-American reporter from CNN and his crew were arrested (for no reason) before the officer who killed George Floyd. I have too many angry thoughts that I’m struggling to coherently put them together.

  3. I had totally forgotten about All Lives, You Say? Probably because it hasn't been played live (much/ever?). Would it be fair to call that one a Schmilco outtake, or was it written and recorded after the album?

All Apologies was quite unexpected, and very nice.

  4. I appreciate that there are vulnerable segments of society that need resources and special care, but it's not ebola for God's sake.

The vast majority of people will have a bit of a cough and no worse that usual annual flu.

The whole world needs to calm down a bit.

    OK let me calm down.

I'll take posts that aged poorly for 1000, Alex.

  5. Nugs just released the July 13, 2006 Fredericton, New Brunswick show on their streaming service. This show is really cool because it has Let’s Fight.

One of my Tweedy Show comments was asking Jeff what happened to this song, but Susie most likely didn’t see it. I am curious though if it was ever recorded.

I was at a living room show back in 2009 where different groups would perform with him. One group did Let's Fight but he had no recollection of it and he stood there and watched the group perform it.

  7. I was there, too! That's still one of my favorite concert-going memories, seeing two of my favorite bands at the time back-to-back. (I was almost 30, but felt giddy as a 15-year-old.)

As for the news about Adam, I'm still reeling. (Just last week I was watching an old FoW DVD, a concert film called "No Better Place: Live in Chicago.")

My earliest memory of Fountains of Wayne with the perfect song for the times then and now.

  8. To  make things even worse for this baseball season, White Sox radio announcer Ed Farmer dies. Always enjoyed listening to him. Also, he was always great as a guest on the Steve Dahl show. Great guy who battled many health aliments over the years, but he always bounced back. I did catch a few spring season games via the radio this year, but the games I caught he was not in the booth - bummed that I didn't hear him call a game this year.

I wasn't the biggest fan of his play-by-play, but he was amazing as an analyst to John Rooney. Extremely nice guy when I met him a few years ago at an event at the school I was working at at the time.
