That was gorgeous.

No talk of why he played that? I suppose most people here know the story.
Pretty sure that’s Sue’s favorite song.

My test came back negative. Still need to be careful but at least don't have to do full quarantine.
Great news!!!

Are night 1 and 2 available anywhere online? Enjoying the hell out of night 3 right now.
Instagram stories are up for 24 hours, then gone.

Chicago Public Schools clearly does not have a plan. My school has over 900 people in it. My wife's school has 5,000 people (students plus staff) in it. My school still does not have any hand sanitizer. They say there should not be any unnecessary visitors to schools, yet on Tuesday thousands of people will be entering over 500 schools that serve as polling places. What about kids that need to eat? CPS received federal funding for a waiver to do a meals on wheels program. So many districts around the country are shutting down schools. It seems Chicago Public Schools knows what the right thing to do is, they just constantly choose the other option. Me and my wife both fall into the vulnerable category (auto-immune and diabetic). I am starting to get worried (doesn't help I have major anxiety/depression) and am frankly pissed off at the response.

I would like to give a hearty middle finger to Lori Lightfoot. No gatherings of over 250 people. That’s the lunch period in my school. My wife’s school has over 4,500 students in it.

cool. best of luck to them. i haven't written about this here but i live in seattle. due to immune system issues & drugs for that, i'm high risk & indeed may already have the virus. i haven't been able to get tested yet due to lack of testing kits in the US. i have some symptoms but not quite enough to hit the testing threshold. supposedly that is going to be lowered by next week. i go see doc on tuesday & am going to insist on test. if nothing else for peace of mind. i haven't felt well though & its been slowly getting worse. so, fingers crossed for vaccine. & test kits in US!
Good luck and I hope everything will turn out ok.

MLS has suspended operations for 30 days. The NHL is putting suspending the season "on the table" to owners and no one has spoken out about it yet. Looks like the MLB is suspending operations as well, with an announcement coming shortly.

As a teacher, I'm starting to worry a little. Children are disgusting, especially middle schoolers. Also, Rudy Gobert is a fucking idiot.

Go White Sox!
It has been a great off-season for the White Sox. Expecting them to make the playoffs this year. I already have tickets in hand for three games; it has been a long while since I bought tickets before a season has even started.
Should be interesting to see how the Astros are received through out the year.
I'll leave it to others for predictions.
I haven't been this excited about a White Sox team in years! I'm hoping for 80-85 wins as the floor, just missing the playoffs. If they make the playoffs, that'll just be icing on the cake.
Over/under on Astros players being beaned?

Wow! I thought she was clinging to her purity pretty strongly.
At this point, she's just in the race to kneecap Bernie Sanders, having put out a press statement that she's staying in the race until the end of March, even though there's no path to the nomination for her.

Both Buttigieg and Klobuchar drop out, with Klobuchar endorsing Biden. Biden has barely visited any Super Tuesday states (https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/26/us/politics/joe-biden-california-super-tuesday.html). Warren has backed out of her pledge to not take SuperPAC money. Tomorrow should be an interesting day.

If this shit gets pulled, another 4 years of Trump.

It's my policy any time someone mentions RBG as the (singular) slot that will open to remind folks that Steven Breyer is 81 years old.
That's two seats that will open relatively soon.
If Trump gets reelected, he will almost definitely get to replace RBG. If he also gets to replace Breyer, that gives him a 7-2 court. I also think if he wins, Clarence Thomas will retire so Trump can replace him with someone young, rather than waiting until a later term and gambling on being replaced by a dem. This solidifies the 7-2 split for at least a decade since everyone else is relatively young (Alito, the next oldest, is 69).
The best case scenario if a Democrat wins, barring the death of one of the justices, would be to hold the 4 seat minority. Assuming that still exists come inauguration day.
That alone is far more than reason enough to enthusiastically vote for a pile of maggot encrusted dog shit with a D attached to their name over Trump.
You are absolutely correct. The Supreme Court alone was all the reason I needed to vote for Clinton in 2016.

Thanks. I agree about the SCOTUS nominee, too. Wouldn’t student debt forgiveness also need to go thru Congress?
Pretty sure student loan debt goes through the Department of Education.

Genuine question for the Bernie supporters here. If he wins, do you expect a single payer healthcare bill to actually get passed? And if so, which 60 senators will vote for it?
Nope, but the conversation will be front and center. Also, I want some progressive judges, and with Ruth Bader Ginsburg aging, I’d like Bernie to pick a Supreme Court justice. I’d also love for my student debt to be wiped so I can you know, spend money and contribute to the economy. I also feel that Bernie isn’t bought and paid for by corporations/banks.

Just trying to make a point that Sanders is electable.Interesting, Thanks. But do we still trust polling? Polling in February?
And Biden won’t stop lying. Now he is saying he was arrested in Apartheid South Africa for trying to see Nelson Mandela. The person who he was supposedly traveling with said that never happened. He lied about being a part of the Civil Rights Movement and now this. He has to know that it is just about over for him.

You're right; but I think the same thing will happen with Bernie or Warren leading the ticket. If the Dems want to win the White House, I think they need a candidate that can win back Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.
Sanders vs. Trump in Michigan: 49-44.3
Sanders vs. Trump in Pennsylvania: 47.3-44.7
Sanders vs. Trump in Ohio: 53-47
Sanders vs. Trump in Wisconsin: 43-50
The first three are from RealClearPolitics, the Wisconsin one is from Quinnipiac (came out yesterday) which has all Democrats down to Trump. Sanders and Biden are the closest at down 7%. Bernie Sanders can win 3 of the 4 you mentioned, and no Democrats are winning in Wisconsin.
-
He doesn't have to "win" to have a major effect on the race. He's polling at #1 or #2 in a number of the Super Tuesday states. If that holds, he might be the only viable alternative to Bernie 2 weeks from now.
If that happens where Bloomberg's the nominee without winning a primary, I believe Trump wins a second term easily. I think the Democratic Party would be in shambles, people will be pissed and stay home.

I'm here for Warren bodying everyone. She's the clear winner tonight. Inject a Sanders-Warren ticket in my veins!

Oh how awful!
Such a young man!
His 13-year old daughter was also in the helicopter. Unreal loss for their family. I wasn't alive when it happened, but I have read this feels similar to Roberto Clemente.

I know there are some Ohmme fans on here, so for them, here was their complete setlist, as played:
You, Your Face
Fingerprints
Icon
Cloudbusting [Kate Bush]
Water
Grandmother
I thought it was pretty ballsy of them to spend nearly a third of their allotted time on a deep cut off their first record. And I was especially glad to hear their version of Cloudbusting, which I hadn't before. Love those guys.
You, Your Face is a gorgeous song! They opened with it when they opened for Glen Hansard.

My dad took me to see them when I was 12 at Rock the River 2000. I went kicking and screaming. My dad clearly knew better.
