  1. Andrew Bird opened the Wilco show at Tanglewood and never came out once to play with the band like he did at The Winter Residency.

Unless, if he was plugged in backstage and played along. It's highly possible.

    :shifty

But it should be noted that it has the highest ranking on iTunes out of the whole soundtrack (18 songs). Marketing genius or pure deception? You decide.

  2. I reported awhile back that according to Amazon.com's listing a month or so ago that it was listed as Jesus, Etc. (Tanglewood Live Version)

    Kristofor

Edit: Apparently, Amazon.com says Jesus, Etc. is from Andrew Bird now! LOL WTF?

Oh well. I was there like someone mentioned and he never came out. It could be the people at Sony lying to get people to buy the song or moreso the soundtrack.

  3. I was out dining at Outback Steakhouse in Tyngsboro, MA last Thursday night and lo & behold Kamera came on. Very cool.

So I texted my good friend who works there and told him (he's seen them 3 times - Boston Pavillion 07, Tanglewood 08, Lowell 09).

He said that he's heard I'm The Man Who Loves You, Heavy Metal Drummer and just last night he heard Secret Of The Sea (!?!!) on their satellite radio station.

  4. My link

A friend of mine found me the script to this and I can say that I wholeheartedly enjoyed the shit out of it. It's completely an ode to the films of the 80s especially Better Off Dead.

While this teaser is selling the premise, I can assure you there are plenty of memorable lines, sight gags and other sick and twisted jokes and one final plot twist that will be talked about for awhile.

    Enjoy,

    Kristofor

PS It'd help if I said who's in it. The movie stars John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Armstrong, Clark Duke, Chevy Chase, Crispin Glover and a Poison tribute band that escapes me. Supposed to hit theaters on February 27, 2010. Kind of a shitty date-bad weekend for movies in the past.

  5. This is a good post.

Not because of the rational argument, or the Cline wine picture.

This is a good thread because you said Mikael is Woody Allen. Well done.

    Ha.

My best friend pointed that out to me when we were far away the first time we saw them play with Mikael in 2003. From our vantage point that's who he reminded him of.

But Mikael is a very nice guy who I was fortunate enough to speak with after a Portland, Maine show......Your Honor :thumbup

  6. Actually, Tweedy tweeded me the other night and said he can't stand it when Nels gets all the attention up there. In fact, at one of the recent ball park shows Jeff grabbed a ball that was autographed by Nels and ran off with it to a local pawn shop. He traded it in for this....

    cline_cellars_zinfandel_2005.jpg

But to answer your question seriously or more serious than before: I don't think Jeff really cares or has time to notice if Nels' side has more people. Those people could really be Mikael Jorgensen fans or people double checking to see if 1970s Woody Allen time traveled in a hot tub time machine to play with Wilco from 2003 on.

    Kristofor

PS I just can't picture Tweedy running off stage pissed at Nels or anyone for that matter. From reading interviews it seems like this is what Jeff always had in his head for what he wanted his band to sound like. Why ruin that? I can see changing the guard to change the sound if someone wants to leave on their own.

  7. Well, after looking at the setlist for the Michigan show from last night something occurred to me: I'd love to just see Wilco do a show like this over the next year.

I'm not looking to get 31 songs per night but it does leave things open without having an opening act. Yes, it also leaves out possible guests on songs.

In my head it would be cool for the band to tour like this for maybe a year. They could maybe like they do now spread out shows and play for a certain length of time like 6 weeks and rest for however long than come back again.

While I'm grateful to have Wilco be a band that seems to always be touring, it would be a nice change of pace to drop an opening act slot for the next year and do shows similar to the one in Michigan.

If that means seeing them once over the next year than I'd be happy and so would other people too I think.

I go to the shows for the music like anyone else and to me the depth in that setlist was just beyond amazing. As Wilco keeps touring and making new fans and they go and seek out all the albums and etc. I'd assume they'd like to hear a nice diverse set that spans their whole career.

And the only opening act that sticks out to me was My Morning Jacket. Every other band kind of blends in to my memory. But I am kind of glad that I'm being introduced to new music and bands I wouldn't have heard of but sometimes one finds themselves not seeking their music out.

So I want to hear what the fans, like me, would prefer.

I realize that their might be some bias towards An Evening With after the setlist last night that prompted this poll in the first place.

    Thanks,

    Kristofor

PS In the back of my mind I picture the band and how they are all beat up after a show like in Ashes and I feel bad. I guess they could play every other night.

  9. That is one fucking setlist right there. Good for you guys.

Of course having seen them 1 week ago today on the infamous Lowell rain out, I'm a bit bummed.

(in Costanza voice) I Demand Reparations!!

    Kristofor

PS Just got back from Elton & Billy at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. Amazing.

  10. Anyone know if the recording of this show @ Owl & Bear is of stellar quality?

Yeah, it's pretty great quality. I just clicked on each song to double check and it sounds great.

I approve this recording. Go get em. :pirate

    Kristofor

    PS Kickass setlist too obviously.

  11. In Lowell, I had them coming on at 8:40ish.

"Going to the show at the Main State Pier Friday. Not a huge Conor Oberst fan, but wouldn't mind checking him out, but also a huge Red Sox fan and want to see our phenom pitcher make his 2009 debut for a little while, anyone have info on how quick they go on after doors and when Wilco goes on after doors? Thanks."

I think Theo has Clay coming up so they can show him off to the Blue Jays in hopes to trade him for Halladay. What do you think?

  12. From WXRT mailing list that I somehow am still subscribed to. (I live in NH)

    "Wilco's coming - and Lin's back!

Lin Brehmer returns to the XRT morning show on Monday to announce details of Wilco's upcoming XRT Show in Chicago. Tune in at 8am for the news."

  13.

I think that reviewer got Impossible Germany confused with Spiders. Impossible or Unlikely. ;)

One friend was chatting with Nels about the LA scene and my other friend and I were talking to the others. Once Jeff came out it was awesome. I'll never forget what he said as he came out: LOL "Look at his head it's gigantic. See it over there!" I guess once he came off the tour bus he saw one of the dorm room's tv sets which must have had the news on an HD TV set. I remember we discussed Sky Blue Sky before it came out.)

July 16, 2006 Pines Theater Florence, MA * (only show I missed the whole main set due to hitting traffic for nearby Aerosmith at Tweeter Center and missing the BIG exit to get to Western MA. But it was worth it to be there for Let's Fight and everything else that followed.Wow, nothing sucked more than hearing Theologians, Walken, I'm The Man Who Loves You while looking for a parking spot and running to the venue to catch Jeff run off the stage to Hummingbird. :no )

  14. Band members spotted in Lowell:

A friend of mine at the show said that he heard from a friend that Nels was at Brew'd Awakenings (coffe shop) which is next to the Blue Shamrock.

John and Pat were also spotted at The Worthen House which is quite a hike from the Park. It's about 10 minutes walking from Cobblestone's.

Anyways, it's pretty cool that members went to places that I frequent. My friend's alt-country band played both places over the past couple of years.

FYI, the Lowell taper is looking for someone to upload his show to a torrent site.

  15. Slightly off topic: It should be noted that Mark Wahlberg, Christian Bale, Melissa Leo, & Amy Adams just began principal photography today in Lowell, MA for The Fighter.

As some of you may know, the film is about Lowell's own Mickey Ward and his half-brother Dickie Ecklund. Both boxers.

The film will be directed by David O'Russell.

I mention this only because it did cross my mind that maybe one of these actors would be at the show. They've been in town allegedly for a little while.
