  1. Sarah Shook & The Disarmers, "Revelations" on 3/29

Whatever Blind Pilot has in the pipeline, whenever that happens.

    EDIT:

The one release I was probably most looking forward to this year (so far) actually came out Friday: the Painting With John soundtrack from John Lurie.

I can't remember liking one right off the bat like this in some time. Usually it takes a while for the growers to seep their way in.

Ode To Joy bowled me (and my wife) over right out of the gate. We put it on repeat throughout the house via our Sonos system, and literally listened to it every waking minute that first weekend it was released. Cruel Country was nearly the same.

Unfortunately Cousin isn’t really grabbing me much. I don’t hate it, of course, but I also don’t love it. The first 90 seconds of Pittsburg is off-the-charts good, but after listening through 16 or 17 times, nothing else has made me sit up and take notice. But that’s totally fine. I don’t expect to love every record a band makes.

Just now seeing this. I haven’t been keeping up with my social media lurking lately. My guess is that I have it on the list as some other title, before Jeff announced it (or before we all saw it in the Cousin track listings). When I have some time, I’ll try to sort it out. Thanks for the heads-up.

Song List has been fixed. This led me to find a couple other corrections that needed to be made, as well. Please do notify me if/when you find discrepancies.

Very nice catch! You know I had a hazy memory that he did do Soldier Child twice, but on Monty’s list it’s only listed once as Soldier Child for episode 217.

My post wasn't about that song. It was about the song that could be named either "Nothing New" or "Having a Hard Time." Both phrases are part of its refrain.

Oh, ok. Then I guess I just don't know which song you're talking about.

  6. After reading through these last few posts, I'm a little confused about why there's confusion about the name of the new song. But for what it's worth, on the spreadsheet I listed the new song from this Tweedy Show (#218) as "Evicted From Your Heart" because a) he repeats the line over and over in the song, b) both @u2roolz and @bböp listed it as such in their lists, and c) that's what it says on Wilcoworld.net.

*** not technically a Tweedy Show, but Susie filmed the second half of the 11pm show from Carol’s Pub on her IG.**

She’s My Rock (Stoney Edwards cover)

    Falling Apart (Right Now)

Give Back The Key To My Heart (Doug Sahm cover)

    A Lifetime To Find

    U.S. Blues (Grateful Dead cover)

    Reincarnation (Roger Miller cover)

On the spreadsheet I made the notation "(twice)" for all of these except Reincarnation.

  8. Thanks for writing this, Paul. Perfectly sums up my feelings about the show. I will admit I expected a longer show, of course, but at the same time, I don’t feel ripped off or disappointed in any way. We saw one of the best bands out there today play the most iconic record in their catalog. As the promo said, “That’s it.” I’m cool with it. I’m sorry others feel so disappointed.

  9. I would guess not. That's the same photo they used for last night's episode. Also, except for the few times they've done the show from out on the road, it has been a very, very long time since they did shows on two nights in a row.

  10. I know it wasn't "officially" an episode of The Tweedy Show last night, and I don't know how long the stream will be available to watch on Instagram. Or if it will be saved somewhere for posterity. But in the interest of complete-ness I felt compelled to add the songs from last night to the spreadsheet. So they are listed separately, aaaallllllll the way down at the bottom of the list under their own heading.

A genuine laugh out load moment when I read that.

How long does it take episodes to get uploaded to YouTube these days? I will have to look out for No. 200.

P.S. Thanks for the summaries from me too. I don't watch what with the time difference, but special episodes like this I will try to catch.

I appreciate the accolades, but seriously, all the real credit goes to @u2roolz. The two or three times I filled in for him really showed me how truly dedicated he’s been to this project. It’s fairly easy for me to jot down the songs they play and then type them into the spreadsheet the next morning. Trying to catch everything they talk about, the client comments they’re responding to, and all the other nuances @u2roolz captures in these recaps is a next-level commitment. My hat is off to him.

  12. The Tweedy Show, Thursday July 29, Episode 200

-Show opens with Jeff welcoming everyone to episode #200 while sitting in the bathtub, as in episodes 1 and 100.

-He wonders if he should do an entire show of Paul's requests, and asks Paul if he has any requests.

-Camera pans left to reveal Paul sitting in the tub at the other end. He says he does have requests.

-Susie and Spencer go downstairs and call Peter on the PedroBot while Jeff and Paul change into dry clothes.

-Jeff puts workboots on without socks.

That's How I Got To Memphis (Tom T. Hall cover sung by Spencer with Jeff on guitar)

-Susie and Jeff broke down and started reading the clients' box full of letters without waiting for the kids to be there for it.

-Much discussion of the special 200th Episode drawing done by Jeff Knurek, which is posted on the various socials.

I Love You (Billie Eilish cover)

-Jeff answers client question, saying Solid Sound tickets will go on sale soon, but he doesn't know the exact date.

[As previously announced, the festival itself will be held May 27-29, 2022, at Mass MoCA]

-Sammy calls in on Spencer's phone. There is some talk about his haircut before a very long glitch causes Susie to have to stop and re-start the show.

-Spencer says when the show returns from hiatus* perhaps it will be on a different platform.

[*This is not the last show ever, but it is the last show for awhile as Jeff and Wilco are returning to touring.]

    Even I Can See

-Client suggests a raffle to win a free bath with Jeff.

Close My Eyes (Arthur Russell cover, for Sammy, sung by Jeff with Spencer on backing vocals)

-Susie didn't like the country music playing in her doctor's office.

-Susie and Jeff read some of the label-maker labels stuck all over the box of letters from the clients, which have lots of catchphrases taken from the show.

-Some discussion of Jeff's great haircut.

-Discussion of Dymo embossing label makers and their usefulness.

-Paul will not sing a song.

-Jeff predicts that Wilco will play on some Sleater-Kinney songs while they're on tour together.

-Susie didn't know some of the crew did an AMA earlier in the day.

-Jeff says he even misses the parts of touring that he hates.

    Lou Reed Was My Babysitter

    -Wilco doesn't like this song.

-Happy birthday shout out to Tara.

Wild World (Cat Stevens cover sung by Spencer with Jeff on guitar and backing vocals

-Spencer and Paul have short "dance party" while playing I'll Take You There on the jukebox.

-Susie shows the PEZ wall, her new bowling pin, a lot of pyrex, and a Thermos collection.

-Susie loves Con-Ed savings days, and is better at saving money on those days than anyone else in the family

-Wilco used to buy carbon credits, but eventually learned that it was pointless.

-Jeff says he doesn't take many baths, Susie says he takes a lot of baths.

-Jeff encourages everyone who is eligible for the covid vaccine to get it as soon as possible.

A Shot In The Arm (Spencer on backing vocals)

-All Tweedys thank the clients for showing up, creating the client community, and for all the charitable contributions we've made.

    Reincarnation (Roger Miller cover)

  13. @u2roolz asked me to fill in for him and do tonight’s recap, which I did. But due to circumstances beyond my control I had to take notes in longhand. Will get them typed and uploaded ASAP tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

Of interest to no one but us two, the “Say It Plain” song seems to have been listed on the printed setlist as “Universe,” so I guess you were right!

Well, there are at least three of us who care.

  15. Cannot verify. I was stepping out of the shower and my wife yelled up to me from downstairs to put it on my phone. So I know they also did Half-Asleep (during which she stopped the feed).

-- Jeff believes that he's played every song off of Neil Young's After The Gold Rush on The Tweedy Show.

According to the spreadsheet (and these recaps), they've played 6 out of the 11 songs on After The Gold Rush. The songs they have NOT played are:

    Southern Man

    Till The Morning Comes

Don't Let It Bring You Down

    Birds

When You Dance I Can Really Love

I knew I could count on you, Ziggy B.  Thanks.

No problem. Happy to help, but you can also click the link in my signature (below) and check out the spreadsheet any time you want to look up a song. If it gives you an error, try opening it in an incognito window.

Loved the Smog cover.  Such a great song.  I seem to recall Sammy covering a Smog song from "Rain on Lens" previously.  Bill Callahan is criminally under-appreciated.

Sammy sang River Guard on episode 38

  19. I'm having serious deja vu with Casey's song Prodigal Son. It seemed so familiar to me I was sure she'd done it before, but I don't find it on the spreadsheet or if I run a search in this thread. Weird.

The Tweedy Show Episode 190 Saturday July 3 (Live from Rockford, IL)…

…I originally wasn't going to count this, but Jeff said that tonight's episode was 191, so we'll go with that and help him try to get to 200 before the tour starts. Thanks to Paul Suwan for the setlist.

I had put these songs on the spreadsheet and called it show #189.5. When I add last night’s show later today, I will change this to 190 to match your (Jeff’s) count, and -as always- to keep the spreadsheet in sync with your recaps.

  21. HAhahahahaha.

No danger of me unseating U2Roolz in the re-capping department. I never, ever update the spreadsheet without cross-referencing/double-checking my notes against his as I go. It takes a village, ya know. :D
