  1. Hey all, I'm looking to create a mix of music from the late 80s / early 90s. What do you believe are some essential songs that I need to include from Manchester bands like the Stone Roses, Charlatans, Happy Mondays, Smiths, etc? Thanks in advance!
  2. You didn't lurk around here just waiting for us to mention her, did you? No, I really love Wilco and have been a fan since I first saw them at the Vic in 1995. As I mellow with age however, I do dig the female singers (Neko Case, Aimee Mann, Jenny Lewis, etc.)
  3. I've lurked around here reading posts for about 5 years and yet to hear anyone mention her stuff. I saw her at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago last weekend and found it to be both amazing and inspiring. I was just wondering if anyone else her dug her music and felt the same way! Thanks!
  4. I just received an e-mail from Jam Productions, stating that Sly and the Family Stone will be playing the Vic Theatre in Chicago on May 3rd. Does anyone know about them touring with Sly? Is he stable? Would he show up? Has anyone seen them in concert in the last year? I love their music and see Sly as being a hugely influential musician but, would hate to spend 70 bucks and see what would amount to a cover band play their songs. Thanks!
  5. Here's the best I can do!
  6. Now that I think about it, it seems like before they seemed to be restlessly searching for a new sound or direction to go (ie. Dylan). Now they've found something that works and they stick with it and stick with it. I also suppose that could be because of the recent stabilty that has been found in the band (instead of a rotating cast - Bob Egan to LeRoy, etc). Who knows, all the newspaper reviews around have said the concert were perfect or nearly perfect (DeRogatis never likes anything without a caveat of some sort). Maybe I just want to hear something else off of Summerteeth than Shot In
  7. Don't get me wrong. Wilco sounds better and healthier than ever. The groove is tight and the show flows well together. And maybe I'm just showing my age here but, out of all of songs to play from their catalog I feel like I'm seeing the same show repeated for the last several years. Last night in Chicago was great, but it felt like I saw the same thing last year at the Auditorium or the year before that or I could have stayed home and listened to Kicking Television (It's basically the same setlist). There was a time when every time I saw Wilco they did something new and different (Casi
  8. My wife and I were thinking about taking the Metra train down to avoid to congestion. Does anyone know ahead of time if the city has a curfew for the Pritzker Pavilion? Thanks! CW
  9. I got in right away and went with the Jam pre-sale for two tickets. I didn't say which seats exactly but it was Sec. 103. Guess it's my lucky day!
  10. If you live in Chicago, Wilco is playing on 91.5 fm right now. Sides with the Seeds sounds great!!
  11. Does anyone have a full band version that they'd like to post besides the Farm Aid version? Thanks in advance.
