  1. It's been a long time since I've come around, but today is important.

Isn't it strange, the things we associate with monumental moments in life? After all this time, whenever I think of Nat's passing, Jen's first post immediately flashes in my mind:

    What?! What?!

Two words, or really, one word. But I can hear her say it, I can hear the tone of her voice even though I only read the words. It's forever linked with the news for me.

I can't believe she would have been 40 today. She should be 40 today. I often forget that I never met her "in real life" because we had more interaction on this board than I have with much of my family. She was a kind soul, and I still miss her a lot. Thank you to Via Chicago for bringing her into my life.

I will be raising a glass to Natopia tonight.

  2. I always looked at the puking as a migraine symptom. I think Jeff looks miserable during that argument, and I assumed it was more because of a splitting headache than a creative disagreement about where to end a track. I never thought it was edited to make Jay look like the cause. Interesting that some people took it that way.

Yay! Now, who needs a kitten?

    Not it!

  4. I almost got my ass kicked by a bum at a free Parliament-Funkadelic concert because I asked him to stop blowing his whistle in my ear.

You sure that wasn't George Clinton?

I'm a little behind, but thanks for my new sig, guys. :rotfl

Oh and add me to the lip syncher list. I thought I was the only one.

  5. This thread is here to express our sadness and send our condolences, and nothing else. Please keep in mind that there are friends and family visiting us, and that we are all here to grieve together.

  6. Thanks, Been there many times but missed this one. Just downloaded it.......This is an absolutely great show.......Jay will be missed.

Woah, my brain cut out....that was not my first Wilco show, which was several years earlier, but still a great night.

It's such a shame that it takes a tragedy to get someone the attention they always deserved.

  7. Incredibly sad...

Listening to 9/16/00 - Toad's Place - New Haven, CT right now. This is one amazing show and really demonstrates Jay's chops outside of the studio.

    RIP.

That was a stellar show, and my first time seeing the band. I didn't truly become a fan until that night.

  8. I was never 100% clear on this, but did Jay write the lyrics to "My Darling?"

If so, then those lyrics take a whole new meaning.

He recorded his own version for "The Palace at 4 AM". I actually prefer him singing it over Jeff, especially after finding out they were his words.

  9. Another blog story.....

    http://ccsbandwagon.blogspot.com/

    That's a beautiful tribute.

How sad. What the hell happened? I suppose that's not how everyone processes this kind of thing, but it just makes me wonder what the hell happened to him. The guy was 45..... I don't know. I guess it doesn't change anything, but it just seems so strange that someone his age would pass so suddenly from a surgery.

In any case, may he and his loved ones be well, peaceful and happy.

I think we've found that it was not from surgery as one site reported, but in his sleep. The Sun Times article mentions that they'll be doing an autopsy.

    Ugh, it's all so unreal.

  10.

    Here's the story:

    RIP, Jay Bennett.

    May 24th, 2009 by Nate

Sorry to interrupt our Sasquatch Festival coverage for some sad news, but it appears Jay Bennett (Wilco, Titanic Love Affair) has passed away from complications following surgery. He was 46. The blog The Music’s Over has a post up here.

Seems like everyone is just linking to each other right now. I think "complications from surgery" is a new claim though, right?

  11. from what i gather, Jay wasn't with Undertow anymore. he didn't elaborate but told me they had a sort of falling out. could be Undertow is reading our messages here/ following the twitters and decided to post that pic?

im really hoping this is just a hoax.

He's still listed in their artist roster, but I guess it's a possibility.
