  2. I am very proud to announce that I have come onboard as co-director/co-producer on a documentary about a musician who was very much a part of my three favorite albums from a band I love beyond words. That band is Wilco. The musician in question is the amazing Jay Bennett. And the film is called "Where are you, Jay Bennett?" Our Kickstarter is now live. You can read all about it here. Then please watch the trailer, support the project, and share the link with every rock 'n' roll lover out there. Thank you. Gorman http://nodepression.com/article/jay-bennett-gone-not-forgotten https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gormanbechard/where-are-you-jay-bennett
  3. Hi all, I moved to Chicago last year and I'm a massive Wilco fan. I co-run a collective called Culture Canon, which presents film and other media during live events to incite conversations about popular culture. Culture Canon just announced a screeening of I Am Trying To Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco, which will take place on Tuesday, December 17 at Virgin Hotels Chicago during the band’s winter residency at Chicago Theatre that week. The poster for the event (attached below) was created by NDTank, a West Virginia-based designer and artist that has created concert posters for Wilco, Neko Case, and Calexico as well as other visuals for KEXP, Reckless Kelly, and High Five Festival. A limited-edition screen print of the poster will be available for purchase to those attending the screening on December 17. More details -- including a Wilco concert ticket giveaway for their December 15 show at Chicago Theatre -- are below. More surprises are in store for the event as well, so if you have any interest in being there, let me know and I would love to meet some of you on December 17. Thanks, Dan CHICAGO AND NYC-BASED CULTURE CANON TO SCREEN WILCO DOCUMENTARY AT VIRGIN HOTELS CHICAGO WHO: Culture Canon, a collective based in New York and Chicago, incites conversations about key artifacts from popular culture by bringing together film, music, literature and other forms of media at events that celebrate the fundamentally social nature of curation and consumption. Virgin Hotels Chicago is the first property from Virgin Hotels - the lifestyle hospitality brand that combines heartfelt service, straightforward value and a seamless, personalized hotel experience with the track record of innovation and smart disruption that Sir Richard Branson's global Virgin Group has pioneered for over 40 years. The property mixes a passion for food and beverage with music and culture, fusing with the local landscape and providing a vibrant and inclusive environment for travelers and locals alike. WHAT: A screening of I Am Trying To Break Your Heart: A Film About Wilco, the documentary that chronicles the Chicago-based band’s recording of their massively-influential album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Initially to be released by Reprise Records, executives at Warner Music Group deemed Yankee Hotel Foxtrot to be too artistically ambitious to be commercially viable when the band delivered final masters to the label in 2001. The album was finally released in 2002 by Nonesuch Records (another subsidiary of Warner Music Group) after the band reacquired masters to the album from Reprise. The film follows the band as they wrestle with a shifting lineup, the rising influence of the internet on the music industry, and the myths surrounding the record’s recording and release that have made Wilco a mainstay in popular culture. More programming details will be released in the leadup to the event. WHERE: The Manor at Virgin Hotels Chicago, 203 N. Wabash Ave., Chicago, IL 60601 WHEN: Tuesday, December 17, doors at 7:00 p.m., event at 7:30 p.m. (Note that this event will take place on Wilco’s night off during their four-night winter residency at the Chicago Theatre) TICKETS: Tickets are available via Eventbrite for $12 for general admission and $35 for general admission and a limited edition poster designed by NDTank.

  7. I'm looking for a copy of Wilco's show at the Riviera Theatre, Chicago 2/20/08, part of the residency in which they played their entire catalog. It's not up at Owl and Bear, and Sooutoftune.org has been down for a while. Thanks!
  8. Hey - I've been trying to find a copy of Wilco's appearance on Sound Opinions 9/18/01. Thanks in advance. - Daniel boopbloop7@gmail.com
  9. Huge news, everybody. i just got word of this from my friend Gorman Bechard, whose own film A Dog named Gucci will be premiering at the same festival. The long-awaited film will premiere on Friday, Feb. 13. An auspicious day, I'm sure! http://www.bigskyfilmfest.org/bsdff/festival/films-2015/every_other_summer_solid_sound_festival_2013/c/61
  10. I've occasionally seen and heard negative opinions on the Wilco Album. I'm just curious as to why you feel that way? It's certainly not their worst album, in my opinion. First of course, this album was my very first Wilco album. My father was always trying to get me into Wilco, but I wasn't really interested. So one day at the library, I saw Wilco (The Album) under new releases. I grabbed it for my dad, hoping to surprise him. He had no idea a new album was even out. While waiting for him to come home, I decided to listen to the album. I fell in love instantly! And the rest of the night was spent going through my fathers CD's and pulling out every wilco disc. That's the day I discovered Wilco. That being said, I've always been so surprised when I hear fans speaking their dislike of the album I do fondly enjoyed. So here I am, just wondering why you do or do not like Wilco the Album? For the record my favorite album is probably A Ghst Is Born. But I still thoroughly enjoy WTA.
  11. Hello Wilco fans! I'm from Barcelona and i'll be in Chicago for 3 days. Wilco is my favourite band and i'ts exciting to visit Chicago! Any local guys can name some places to visit for a Wilco obsessed? Some restaurants, music stores, any location important for the band! For now, i'll visit Marina City and i'll be searching the Loft! Anything else? Thank you very much. V.

  13. Hey everyone, I usually post under a different name but created a new account to protect the stupid. My husband thought it would be hilarious to give me this gift since I love Wilco so much. He thought it was funny; I thought it was mean-spirited and offensive.
  14. "Being There" is perhaps their greatest record and is certainly one of the best albums of the '90s. Article link.
  15. Does anyone know why they haven't played it yet?

  18. Like all Wilco fans going to the upcoming Chicago shows, I am very excited to see what the band has in store for us. For my blog, I am running a Wilco related post every day this week in celebration of the upcoming shows. For today's I took at 20 years of Wilco shows in Chicago and put together a list of shows by year. In my research, I did my best to include every Wilco show including talk shows and the one private residence show I could find. If anyone has any changes, let me know. A guide to 20 years of Wilco shows in the Chicago(land) area
  19. Hey guys, just want to turn you on to a podcast that I'm really proud of. My show All Time Top Ten is a weekly music podcast covering a wide range of topics. It only took 127 episodes, but we finally broke down the career of the Chicago's own Wilco. My guest and I count down the 20 greatest tunes by Tweedy and company. Please take a listen and let's get a thread going about what would be your 10 greatest Wilco songs. Here's the link: http://alltimetopten.podomatic.com/entry/2014-07-11T11_33_13-07_00 Thanks for your time, Ben Eisen All Time Top Ten
  20. Hi! I hope this is the right forum to post this in. I am on a quest to locate a specific Wilco concert poster from a 2/22/2008 Wilco show in Lakewood, OH (a suburb of Cleveland). The poster can be seen here: http://wilcoworld.net/#!/tour_date_type/2008-02-22-lakewood-civic-auditorium/. There hasn't been any for sale on the Wilco Store for some time. I called them and they do not have any in stock. I've tried contacting the artists several times with no response, and have been keeping an eye on eBay and Exspresso Beans with no results. Any leads or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! JD

  22. I spent a weekend listening to all the music Wilco recorded after "Summerteeth" and came up with a list of best to worst, which isn't much real estate to tell the truth. Read the story here: http://www.michaelcorcoran.net/archives/2822
  23. Hi, I'm Danny and I have been playing violin for 10 years and i really want to play some of the violin solos in their music. If anyone can help me find some (preferably free) that would be awesome. Thanks again.
  24. "(...) Now you get some sort of context, so you’re hearing the music in a different way. A great example of what I am talking about is your Wilco movie. I never knew anything about Wilco, and after seeing it, and seeing what they went through to make that record, then hearing the album knowing everything that they went through just so that you could fucking have it, I appreciate it more." Interview by Sam Jones >> http://offcamera.com/dave-grohl/
  25. sorry if this is the wrong forum .... but does anyone have or know of any live video wilco bootlegs or official recordings? streams, torrents, whatever ....wish I could go to Tokyo in April!
