iTunes does it in Windows.

There's a free program called Audion that will do it for Mac too..

the free version of audion just encoded a portion of the file and it's taken me 2 hours of screwin around to figure out what was going on. the other option mentioned above was a dead download, on cnet surprisingly.

on a more upbeat note, i ran into nels and glenn cd shopping today in charleston. didn't talk to glenn but nels is just about the nicest rock god. tried to persuade him to do a solo show tonight without luck.

Were they buying cd's. If so, what did they buy?

they were and i forgot to ask them. talked to nels about seeing him at tonic in nyc last year and was really trying to see if there might be a surprise gig around town tonight. we did talk about a john fahey tribute cd i was picking up. he's playing on another one that comes out later.

btw, that john fahey tribute cd is awesome. if you're a fan of loose fur or o'rourke's later stuff it's right down your alley. sufjan, lee rinaldo and calexico are just a few of the artists on it.

okay, so i'm a bad wilco fan, apparently. i have had something for a quite a while that was without any kind of labelling, except for the track titles. no numbers or anything.

and now you people are talking about these "engineer demos" and i'm looking at the various tracklists i've seen posted and the one that's on the gorge or whatever that is, as well was the one on etree... and i have something that doesn't appear to be any of that.

can someone tell me what i have on my hands here?

also, if what i have is indeed something entirely different, could someone share the engineer demos with me?

or just tracks i'm missing?

i'm so lost :blink

those are just the YHF DEMOS the Engineer Demos are different.

basically there are two completely different discs. one YHF Demos and the other YHF Engineer Demos. they both contain most of the same tracks but different version of them.

Looks like you have the More Like the Moon EP along with most of the tracks from the regular demo sessions.

You can grab the regular demos as MP3's on a website called the grotto, they have a massive mp3 section. They aren't particularly thrilled with Wilco fans coming on to request MP3's, but there's no reason you can't grab what's already up. You have to register first but after that you can download it through this link

http://www.the-grotto.com/talk/thread.jsp?...3&message=16194.

Don't have the Engineers handy but I am sure someone will up it.
