Far Far Away guitar solo

Recommended Posts

I found this:

E -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D -------------------9------------------9---9------------------------------------------
A ---2------0--2------9----5----2-----------10----9---2--5---2--1--0--------0---2------
E ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------3---

E -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
B -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
G -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
D-----------5---7---9---5---10---7--9-------5---7---9---5---10---9---7----5-
A-----5/7----------------------------------------------------------------------
E -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

on Chordie.net. But it doesn't sound entirely accurate. Can anyone provide corrections/revisions? I'm really terrible at soloing, and I think that having accurate tabs for solos might help me become less terrible.

Hmm... that looks weird. Try this:

1..+.....+.....+.....+.....2..+.....+.....+.....+......

e--------------------------|--------------------------|

B--------------------------|--3-----------------------|

G--------------------------|--2h4---------------------|

D--------------------------|--------4-----0-----------|

A--0h2---------------0--2--|--------------------2-----|

E--------------------------|--------------------------|

3..+.....+.....+.....+.........4..+.....+.....+.....+......

e------------------------------|--------------------------|

B--3---------------------------|--------------------------|

G--2h4-----------2h4-2----0----|--------------------------|

D-------------------(2h4)(0)---|--2h4---0-----------3-----|

A------------------------------|-(2)----------2-----1-----|

E------------------------------|--------------------------|

5..+.....+.....+.....+.......6..+.....+.....+.....+......

e----------------------------|--------------------------|

B----------------------------|--------------------------|

G----------------------------|----------------------/4--|

D--2-------------------------|--------------------------|

A--0-----------------0---0h2-|--3-----------------------|

E----------------------------|--3-----------------------|

7..+.....+.....+.....8..+.....+.....+......

e--3-----5-----5/7---|--3-----------------|

B--------------------|--------------------|

G--------5-----5/7---|--4-----------------|

D-(5)---------(7)----|-(7/9)----(7-\5)----|

A--------------------|--------------------|

E--------------------|--------------------|

9..+.....+.....+.....10.+.....+.....+......

e--8----\7-----5-----|--5-----------------|

B--------------------|--------------------|

G--9----\7-----5-----|--5-------------/4--|

D--------------------|--------------------|

A--------------------|--------------------|

E--------------------|--------------------|

11.+.....+.....+.....12.+.....+.....+......

e--3-----5-----5/7---|--3-----------------|

B--------------------|--------------------|

G--------5-----5/7---|--4-------------/9--|

D-(5)---------(7)----|-(7/9)----(7-\5)----|

A--------------------|--------------------|

E--------------------|--------------------|

13.+.....+.....+.....14.+.....+.....+.....+......

e--8-----7-----5-----|--3-----------------------|

B--------------------|--------------------------|

G--------7-----5-----|--4-----------------------|

D--------------------|--------------------------|

A--------------------|--------------------------|

E--------------------|--------------------------|

Notes in parentheses are a second guitar. I might make changes later but this will get you started on the right track.

Let me know if any of this isn't clear.

Cheers.

since we're being nitpicky, why not

7..+.....+.....+.....8..+.....+.....+......

e--3-----5-----5/7---|--3-----------------|
B--------------------|--------------------|
G--4-----5-----5/7---|--4-----------------|
D-------------(7)----|-(7/9)----(9-\7)----|
A--------------------|--------------------|
E--------------------|--------------------|

I've played it that way (without the optional D string bit), though I admit I wasn't going for 100% accuracy

Yeah, it's hard to get decribe in an accurate way the nuances of timing using plain text. The slide to the fourth fret, G string starts on the and of 3 but is held through the first beat of the next measure so both notes are sounding on beat 1.

The parentheses-ed notes are a second guitar that I didn't feel like writing up a whole new staff for seeing as it's only a couple of notes. If I had the patience I'd do up the whole thing like this for the sake of clarity:

Of course, writing this I realized another mistake I made in the second guitar part (the slide in beat 3 of measure 8 and 12 should be from 7 to 5). I've corrected it above.

I totally didn't see you had that note in the previous measure - I wasn't trying to be that picky.

That being a second guitar makes sense - I was wondering how any person could actually hit all those frets. :cheers
