My heart is wrapped in ice

My fangs have been pulled

And I really want to see you tonight

I also love that Jeff put 'Pensacola' in a song. -Monday

What you once were isn't what you want to be anymore.

It's become so obvious that you are so oblivious to yourself.

One summer, a suicide. Another autumn, a traveler's guide. He hits snooze twice before he dies.

If it's just your heart talking, I'll listen every time --

Dear, you can talk my ear off, anytime, anytime --

But if my mind starts wandering, it won't be gone long --

Whenever I hear your heart talking, it's a song, it's a song

Can anyone else give me some insight on the dilemma between "no way" "the way" and "a way" during radio cures "Oh distance has...of making love understandable." It's been eating me up all day. I swear the last time he says it on the kicking television version its "a way"

Crumbling ladder tears don't fall, they shine down your shoulders.

and

You are not my typewriter but you could be my demon

(Edit: my favorite Wilco lyrics moment was when I was singing along to Passenger Side at a stop light with the windows down, while the bicyclist next to me gave me very frightened glances.)

I think the debate isn't whats on the cd. On the album version of radio cure its obviously no way but in many live versions its pretty clear its A way or THE way.

Well, Tweedy is always constantly changing the lyrics, so really, looking towards any one instance makes it a moot point, because very well next time it could come out different.

So...original intent or evolving standards? Oh, how remniscient of judicial review...

"Oh.............If the ocean were whiskey,

and I were a duck.

I'd dive to the bottom

and never come up."

Is'nt that "Rollin and Tumblin" by Muddy Waters?

Or was it "Divin Duck Blues" by Taj Mahal? :stunned

jk :P , but here is my pick......s

Will I catch the moon

Like a bird in a cage?

It's for you I swoon

I'm always in love.

-"I'm Always In Love"

Now some other son sleeps in the southern wing

And someone else's mother sits to paint the pastoral scene

My father always said that I would never amount to anything

But I'm the family gardener

I'm the family gardener

-"The Family Gardener"

so he slept, on a mountain

in a sleeping bag underneath the stars

he would lie awake and count them

And

fell off a dock, he couldn't swim

and his heart stopped

a gold snake, slid from the sky

and swallowed him up
