yeah, promo came this past weekend :)

there's leaks of all but 2 studio songs now too though if you look around

it's really good... (obviously doesn't even remotely touch Funeral), and fairly Americana sounding (TONS of Springsteen influence). there will be plenty of people who are disappointed that it lacks the energy and fun of Funeral for the most part, but it's not a disappointment for me at all. it's a very mature record for a sophmore album.

Yeah I noticed that but have decided to wait until all the songs are out. Preferably all from the same source.

In response to Neon Bible, disappointed to hear it doesn't reach heights of Funeral but hopefully I'll still find it really enjoyable (haven't listened to any of it yet). I wanted more Rebellions, Tunnels, and Power Outs though :P

This will definitely stick around as one of my top albums of 07.

yeah, if you're wanting more like those 3 tracks, you're going to be a TAD bit let down in that aspect... that said, the version of No Cars Go on Neon Bible is by FAR the best song on the record, and still one of their best songs to date.

and for the record, i somewhat agree with you. the album definitely lacks the youthful energy and spontaneity of Funeral, but it's a much more solidly written record, i just wish it had a true rocker (ala Power Out, Laika, etc. or two i guess, if i had to make one major complaint.

as for Of Montreal, it's definitely awesome, but i'm pretty annoyed it leaked way back in like Sept or whatever now (course it's my fault for listening, but still :P), because it kinda wore thin for me by now, so i'll have to be sure to revisit it more at the end of the year.

Even though I love leaks, I didn't get around to Hissing Fauna until last week...maybe a bit purposefully so it felt like an 07 release for me.

The year is still obviously young, but I imagine it will hang around for me as well. Though, for only being January, this year is shaping up to be very strong.

Yeah with soooo much good stuff coming out this year it will be tough. I know it's been said a million times, but 07 is gonna be riiiighteous.

Wilco, Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Okkervil River, Modest Mouse, Interpol, Built to Spill, Spoon, Bright Eyes, Wolf Parade, Sufjan Stevens, Ryan Adams, New Pornographers, Ted Leo, The National, The Wrens. I bet at least 1/3 of these will be amazing.
