I saw the VW commercial during the Marlins game today. I have to say, it's an awful commercial, but it's really awesome to hear Nels' ragged solo on my tv box. So much so that I played the commercial three times in a row.

Quick answer to this complete piece of garbage/inaccuracy – Plastic Eye - I apologize, I did not see your post. I’m at work, and the board is moving a little too quickly. You are right, VW does have one or two cars on the list – I stand corrected.

Earl, with all due respect, you could not be more wrong about your troll claim – here’s an idea, if you do not like me, or my tone – stop responding to everything I post, and I’ll return the favor.

You're a troll, for sure. As I have said before. Plasticeyeball posted that link, and those numbers at least twice, if not three times, and you ignored them. If you want people to take you seriously when you cry foul about people not backing their up their points, don't ignore people when they back up their points.

Okay, I'm going home now, and will see about putting together later tonight a fusion of the consumerreports.org most fuel efficient list with some sales figures I've been able to track down. It won't be until later. Seriously, dude, grow up and stop whining.

Here's the consumerreports.org top fifteen most fuel efficient cars, and their YTD 2007 sales figures, based on this website.

Rank Model tested CR Overall mpg Sales

1 Toyota Prius 44 76,747

2 Honda Civic Hybrid 37 137,288 (this is total Civic sales)

3 Toyota Camry Hybrid 34 193,900 (total Camry sales)

4 Toyota Yaris Base (manual) 34 37,367 (total Yaris sales)

5 Honda Fit Sport (manual) 34 18,156 (total Fit sales)

6 Toyota Yaris Base 33 37,367 (total Yaris sales)

7 Scion xB (manual) 32 13,331 (total xB sales)

8 Honda Fit Base 32 18,156 (total Fit sales)

9 Honda Civic EX (manual) 31 137,288 (total Civic sales)

10 Scion xA (manual) 31 8,096 (total xA sales)

11 Scion xB 30 13,331 (total xB sales)

12 Hyundai Accent GS (manual) 30 14,859 (total Accent sales)

13 Kia Rio5 SX (manual) 30 13,067 (total Rio sales)

14 Mazda3 i (manual) 30 51,288 (total MZ3 sales, assuming this is the same model)

15 Scion xA 30 8,096 (total xA sales)

The total sales of these fifteen models (including the many variations of them that did not make this list) is 563,826

The total sales for the top ten selling SUVs (whose average mpg might sniff 20, thanks to the Highlander) is 558,812

Make Model YTD 2007

Honda CR-V 84,464

Ford Escape/Hybrid 73,058

Toyota RAV4 72,447

Ford Explorer 60,500

Chevrolet Tahoe 59,550

Ford Edge 46,313

Jeep Wrangler 54,699

Chevrolet All New TrailBlazer 54,285

Toyota Highlander 53,496

Honda Pilot 56,261

Appears to me, and this is admittedly completely nonscientific, that the market is still tilted towards SUVs, rather than fuel efficient cars. This, of course, has no data from focus groups or anything at all that might indicate why buyers chose these particular vehicles. SUVs, though, are generally more expensive, and I can tell you the reason I drove a Ford Escort for ten years was not because it got good gas mileage (though it did), but because it cost about $10K new. Most fuel-efficient cars (with the notable exception, of course, of hybrid models) happen to be less expensive to buy than less efficient vehicles, because they tend to be smaller and have smaller engines and fewer frills, and therefore get better gas mileage.

God, I wish they had Sonic up here in Canada. Catching the American commercials is enough to make me want to make a run directly for the boarder and set up shop across from one of those bitches.

Do you honestly get to choose from like, five thousand types of soda? Even BLUE?

Well then, I guess you are a troll as well - I mean, you must be, I said so.

Try this Ninja, answer four or five seperate posts from different posters while also trying to get some work done - then, come back to me, and tell me how you had time to answer them all - each and every one.

You and Earl certainly make a nice little, mutual ass-kissing echo chamber of argument.

And Earl, you're an asshole.

You have 10 posts in threads not about the VW commercials. You are a troll, and I garauntee when this "controversy" dies out, you'll be gone in a flash. It's the reason you joined the board, and it's the only thing you've contributed to. I look forward to the day when this dies down and you leave. We get it, you're morals, principles, and ideas are better than all of ours, and as such this gives you free reign to bitch and complain about being ignored while simultaneously ignoring every post that contains information refuting your points. If I feel like it, I may just go back through the last 10 pages of this thread and collect every link that you've ignored outright that has made points that prove you wrong. It'll take me a while, though since there's lots of them.

Please, knock yourself out - but, keep in mind, I'm trying to answer multiple posts while getting some work done - let's have everyone throw a few posts at your head, for five or six pages, and we'll watch as you knock them all out of the park.

But then, probably not.

yeah. but at least he's our asshole :wub.

*reported*

Awww...did I pick on one of the cool kids - did I offend your Wilco/VW worshipping sensibilities? I'm so sorry.

But, remember, to be consistent, and we know you want to remain intellectually honest and consistent, you'll have to go back and report Earl as well - he started the usage of - asshole.
