It was a birthday surprise for the co-host Matt Spiegel (for those who don't know he is in a great cover band called Tributosaurus).

At a Strand of Oaks show last weekend, Pat Finnerty (who now plays guitar for Strand of Oaks and also does the “Why This Song Stinks” podcast) opened the show for SoA by playing random covers that the

I heard "What's the World Got In Store" while lunching at Chipolte. It was between a Latino tune and a James Brown song.

I haven't been there yet, but you're pretty much guaranteed to hear Wilco in Chipotle's, right?

First time I heard Wilco other than from my own cds was in '01 at a local pub. "Outtasite" started to play and I became real confused because I knew I heard this song, but my mind couldn't fathom a Wilco song being played in public, especially pre-fired-from-Reprise days.

I've since heard them again at that same restaurant (can't remember the song); a pizza joint - a local radio station playing "A Box Full of Letters;" B&N ("Pick up the Change"); I walked into a Wings place just after SBS was released and "A Ghost is Born" was being played by the manager - (I asked), and I thought I was still hearing it in my head because I had every studio album in my car playing on shuffle; and the grocery store that I work at (Food Lion) routinely plays "Impossible Germany," which is an odd contrast to typical pop fare which dominates store music systems.

Yet, anytime I ask someone in this town if they've heard of Wilco, they think I mean the gas station!

When I tell them it's a band, their first question is always, "What kind of music do they play?"

The answer to that question (if there is one) is a whole different discussion.

ha, I work at Food Lion too. pretty much everytime they play 'Impossible Germany,' Nels' solo gets interrupted by an ad.

When the Ripken Bros.' weekly XM Radio show first launched, the commercial for it was Cal reflecting on his streak ~ and the background music was: the intro to "War on War."

On a side note: Cal doesn't know "Achey, Breaky Heart," but he knows "Gold Digger!"

Sorry, I just think that's funny, considering his clean-cut image.

Heavy Metal Drummer (or maybe it was I'm the Man Who Love You; my memory sucks) at Fenway Park on Friday. Saturday at Fenway, I heard California Stars.

This is something I have to experience.

When You Wake Up Feeling Old was in Dylan's pre-show music yesterday at V-fest. They played it and then an instrumental piece in which Dylan came out onto the stage to. I'm pretty sure it was part of Dylan's entrance because it was the only pre-show music at the festival.

Via Chicago (Kicking Television version) was playing on the radio as I was leaving for the grocery store today. Awesome, especially cause I'm the program director of the station (college radio is awesome ;) )

A few days ago I was listening to the whitesox/redsox game on weei. I believe during the pregame I heard some Wilco as background music before a commercial. I forgot what song it was though :ohwell (for some reason I think it was When The Roses Bloom Again). It makes sense with the games being in Chicago

in response to the Food Lion posts. i used to work there while in college and "Theologians" got quite a bit of play.

I've been working at Food Lion for years and "Impossible Germany" is the only Wilco song I've ever heard playing in there. Perhaps they have different music providers for different areas.

Today on XM's baseball channel, the Fantasy Focus show used "Casino Queen" during the intro.

this would have been the summer of 2004 right after AGIB came out. the only other song they played that was any good was Springsteen's "Empty Sky."

still can't believe i heard "Glad It's Over" of all fucking songs on the radio!
