It was a birthday surprise for the co-host Matt Spiegel (for those who don't know he is in a great cover band called Tributosaurus).

Wait til you get a couple episodes further…

Yeah I've heard Taste The Ceiling on CBC Radio Two 3 or 4 times in the past few weeks, looks like they're giving it pretty high rotation, which is good to hear.

Well, as noted earlier, it is a "breezy little ditty" that made Entertainment Weekly's list of "Hot Midsummer Jams for your Weekend", so that may explain it.

Don't know if this is really out and about, but..

I have a lot of cookies or trackers (even though I supposedly don't accept them)  that watch what sites I visit (like Amazon) and in turn place ads or suggested posts on sites like Facebook, the Weather Channel, & Huffington Post.

That's fine, I don't really care, but it becomes a little surprising when I want to find out if it's going to rain today, and see our beloved Star Wars kitty-cat blinking back at me on a banner over the current temperature on the Weather Channel site.

I've grown to expect to see ads for a mouse or an ink cartridge that I'm shopping for appear on these sites , but find it a bit unnerving to see an ad for a Wilco album!

Boy, the internets sure have changed in the last few years...

I sincerely doubt the Canadian Broadcast Corporation is getting their music choices from Entertainment Weekly. CBC 2 plays Wilco fairly regularly, before Star Wars every few weeks you'd hear songs like Heavy Metal Drummer, Jesus etc, or California Stars, but this is the first time they've put a new Wilco song into their regular rotation. Taste The Ceiling is a good pick as it's pretty accessible to the average listener.

Several days ago I was in OfficeMax and the clerk noticed my T-shirt, saying, "Wilco!  Cool, man."  Thing is, the T-shirt was the "Kaysettes Starring Butchers Blind" one, which only a serious fan would immediately grasp as a Wilco shirt.

That has got to be one of the coolest, most "insider" tee shirts I've ever seen!  Love it.

Saturday at the Crave festival (local food & music festival here in Lexington), a Chicago band called JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound opened with a very upbeat cover of IATTBYH.

Didn't they play Solid Sound?  Or is my mind totally melting in the summer heat?

"Pick Up the Change," heard in between sets of a bunch of local bands playing an outdoor all-day thing yesterday. It inspired me to listen to AM while cooking this afternoon. I very rarely listen to Wilco's studio recordings anymore (with the exception of SW), and it's amazing how well AM holds up. I just love it all the way through. Jeff's voice, so young and scratchy, John on "It's Just That Simple," Brian Henneman's warm, soulful guitar playing. What a great record.

Not heard but seen:

On my way to my home (in the suburbs) from the North Side of Chicago, I'm pretty sure that I saw Jeff out biking with his son.

Well, sort of. Could not be bothered to start a new topic for a small tangential item I came across.

"Bezos reportedly also flew in Jeff Tweedy and Werner Herzog for entertainment."
