While I am on the Open D kick, here is a cleaned up & condensed version of PKB based upon the solo Living Room Show.

For more Open D fun, slap a capo at 2 (which makes Open E) and play Dylan's Blood on the Tracks LP - most tunes are Open E.

I give it to you. This section has never sounded exactly right to my ear either, but I have not found a better alternative.

 

My solution? I cheat. I mute the strings at the D chord (by laying index finger across the nut) then slide into the G. A decent approximation, IMHO.

 

If anyone else has a suggestion, I am all ears (forgive the pun).

It's live only. The track fades out on the studio version, if I remember correctly.

 

It's right above the list of chords in the tab.

That's what I'm rolling with when I play it on my bass guitar too so that would seem correct to me.
