Dr Dog: The future as of now‏

Hey Everybody!

It's very possible that we may have just finished our new album. It

might even be likely. We'll see. You'll see. While all of us are

seeing... we'll head out on the road next week for our final lap of

2009. A short jaunt to New Haven, CT, then down to Brooklyn and off to

Chicago just for the night. After that we're taking a break. This one

won't last too long, however so there a few things to tell you about.

Chicago VIP Tickets

First off, the good people at the Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Festival

(December 12th) have given us a pair of VIP tickets to give to 2 Dr

Dog fans in Chicago. With these tickets, besides getting in for FREE

you'll get access to the balcony, where you'll have seats to rest your

bones and stare downwards. If that's not high enough for you, VIPs

will also have access to the Congress Skyboxes located along the giant

dome way above the theater. How can you win these 2 tickets? Be the

first person to send a picture of themselves at work wearing a

self-made Dr Dog. It can't be a shirt we made, we've seen all of them.

If you're not employed that's alright, all you have to do is go to

someone else's work and take the picture there. Send the photo to:

myhomemadeshirt@gmail.com

The first one to get a picture in there will win the tickets...we'll

let you know.

New Haven - Toad's Place:

We haven't played in Connecticut in a long time and we wanted to be

sure we did before the end of the year. We'll be at Toad's Place on

December 10th. People have been writing for the last few weeks

expressing various levels of rage about not being able to get tickets

to the Brooklyn Bowl but New Haven isn't that far and we'll be there

too along with our good friends Drug Rug. You can buy tickets to that

one here:

The Future: 2010

More and more we're getting emails from people who ask us why we don't

play in their towns. As a group of rational people, we all feel like

we play a lot but it's true, we never get to some places that we'd

really like to play. We can't do all of them, but we'll start with the

dates below. All these shows go onsale this Friday Dec 4th. We've made

the shows ALL AGES wherever possible and a lot of these shows have

been pretty carefully considered as towns that we will not be able to

play this spring or summer. We hope some of you can make it and we

really appreciate all the emails... please keep em coming to

drdogmusic@gmail.com.

All shows listed below will go ONSALE TOMORROW - FRIDAY DECEMBER 4.

Ticket Links will be available at our website:

Hope everyone is good! See you soon!

Hey no problem.

My intro to the band was at the Wilco Millenium Park show. I listened to Dr Dog's myspace the day before and heard "My Old Ways" and could not get it out of my head. Seeing them live from 9 rows back there was awesome and I finally got to see them again at the Double Door earlier this year.

Needless to say, I have picked up tickets to see them in Milwaukee in February (I'm about a 90 minute drive from Chicago and Milwaukee so it helps out greatly when I want to see bands). I might even hit Madison or Iowa City too.

Yeah but they're not headlining and the ticket price and not wanting to see any of the other bands made it an easy choice to wait until February in Milwaukee.

They actually are headlining. Bela Fleck plays till 10 and then Dr. Dog goes on and they've got a full set. There were tickets on Groupon.com two days ago for 15 bucks.

Nice. Thought I read Bela Fleck was the headliner.

In any case, not a huge deal as I'm doing early Christmas 650 miles away with my family and am traveling there on Saturday.

Have fun if you're going!

The Chicago Bluegrass & Blues Festival was great this year. Dr. Dog was indeed a headliner, along with the Flecktones, and they

put on one hell of a show. In spite of some technical difficulties - e.g. bass amp failure - they played with lots of energy &

good humor. The set was an homage to quality rock-n-roll - I really like these cats. I've attached a few pics for your enjoyment

(I hope ;) )

Those pics are fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

This was a great set. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about hearing the technical skill of the flecktones followed by some rough rock and roll but it was great. Best Dr. Dog show I've seen.

Yeah I know where you're coming from. The thing I noticed about the Bluegrass & Blues Fest is that it's not limited to those genres. It's far more diverse with lots of interesting folks in the crowd. And most of the musicians are easily approachable throughout the day. I'd recommend checking it out next year - there were many good, if obscure bands playing for a reasonable price ($35). And the Flecktones were really, really good. Last year the Avett Bros. headlined and they too were great.

Awesome pics, thanks for posting.

Makes me want to see them live again. Definitely one of the best shows I've ever been to. Come down south again soon!

Thanks. It really helps to have unfettered access to the stage.

someone tell which guy is which in the pics via which songs they sing on Fate if they want.

In the first picture... Toby is on the left (bass) and sings the even numbered songs (Hang On, Army of Ancients, The Ark, etc). Scott is on the right (guitar) and sings the odd numbered tracks (The Breeze, The Old Days, etc)
