Ok...A week ago I'm playing with some dudes and after about two hours of fun my Pro Jr. starts sounding like the speaker blew...awful feedback, and the only way I could get it to stop was turn it off. So, I take it to an amp tech and he deduces that the pre-amp tubes are shot...problem solved. Until last night, when after about an hour and a half it starts doing the exact same thing but more sporadically...again, I have to turn it off to get it to stop.

Does it sound like there is something in the circuit that's frying my pre-amp tubes?

Thanks for any advice.

in my experience, when preamp tubes go, the amp gets fizzley and quieter

cant diagnose your issues without hearing them, but id say it sounds like a cap or diode going bad...tube issues are usually accompanied but blown fuses

We need an all Pro Jr. thread.

Really besides a reissue, I think fender has gone down hill on their lower end tube amps. Jacked the price and slacked on the line. I have never had a major issue with any vintage fender.

Putting aside any issues of national pride, I think that if they made them domestically, the same problems that bother you in the first place would not exist.

that kinda what i was going for there, but didnt say it quite right...i was referring to the price issue more that the slack issue, and youre right, it would make a direct impact on those problems
