That's a very true statement for me. I've listened to it more than any other 2008 album.

not meaning to be "that guy" really, but for me Vampire Weekend was def a 2007 record, because i wore out the Blue CD-R from August of last year through December when the real thing leaked, which only differed by 2 songs.

haven't listened to the proper record too much in '08

My top 10 so far:

1. Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

2. The Hold Steady - Stay Positive

3. Okkervil River - The Stand-Ins

4. Sigur Ros - Med Sud...

5. My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges

6. The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely

7. Fleet Foxes - s/t (Their EP is unbelievable in my opinion. This one doesn't quite match it)

8. Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Lie Down in the Light

9. Elvis Costello - Momofuku

10. Alejandro Escovedo - Real Animal

British Sea Power is the only album this year that I really didn't like. The new Coldplay and Death Cab albums are both very good and are both in my top 20. Overall, this year is much better for me than last. Last year had some really great weirder records (LCD Soundsystem, Panda Bear, Animal Collective), but this year has just amazing straightforward rock albums.

Wolf Parade--at mount zommer

I'm kind of amazed at the amount of dislike for At Mount Zoomer on this thread. I don't think it hits the highs of Apologies, but it's a great album. And I think only one person has mentioned Trouble in Dreams, which is also surprising.

Then again, I am a little confounded by the absolute lovefest for Bon Iver, so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about :hmm

BEST OF THE BEST

Aimee Mann - @#%&*! Smilers

Beck - Modern Guilt

Black Mountain - In the Future

Constantines - Kensington Heights

Destroyer - Trouble in Dreams

Dodos - Visiter

The Hold Steady - Stay Positive

My Morning Jacket - Evil Urges

The Raconteurs - Consolers of the Lonely

Sons & Daughters - This Gift

Spiritualized - Songs in A & E

Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer

BEST OF THE REST

Atlas Sound - Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See but Cannot Feel

Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever Ago

Centro-Matic - Dual Hawks (I have yet to listen to the South San Gabriel side, actually)

Coldplay - Viva la Vida

The Dirtbombs - We Have You Surrounded

Dosh - Wolves and Wishes

Drive-By Truckers - Brighter than Creation's Dark

Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes

Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight

Shearwater - Rook

agreed.

fantastic record that is actually more consistent than Apologies, just not the 2-3 highs as you say.

I don't think you'll be dissapointed Lou. It is a great album.

Alejandro has never disappointed me yet. I hope it is okay to listen to in the car since I am told Bon Iver is not.
