Wilco -- 6/15/09, Oklahoma City, OK

Fun show, but the jackass that threw like three Sharpies up on stage right at the start of Misunderstood that hit Nels hard should be ashamed of him/herself (I can't imagine it wasn't a guy). At least Jeff called out the "douchebag" with the laser pointer. This probably makes it sound like a horrible crowd, but other than those two bad apples, most people around me seemed very respectful and into the show.

And other than the Sharpie incident, the band seemed to be in a very goofy mood -- Jeff joked about how they had been watching DragonForce videos all day, for example, and played a brief overhand solo bit on Handshake Drugs "because Glenn said I couldn't" -- and enjoying themselves. Jeff also did a funny (at least to me) Springsteen impression at the start of the encore when he emerged sans jacket in his sweat-soaked black shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbows and Stratocaster Telecaster dangling behind him by the strap. Maybe you had to be there. :lol

They seemed to be running short on time at the end for whatever reason and changed the last song to Hoodoo Voodoo from what was listed as a planned second encore of Kingpin and Red-Eyed/I Got You on the printed setlist.

The setlist, as played, was:

Wilco (the song)

IATTBYH

Pot Kettle Black

A Shot in the Arm

One Wing

At Least That's What You Said

Side With The Seeds

Bull Black Nova

Handshake Drugs

War on War

Sonny Feeling

Jesus, etc.

Impossible Germany

California Stars

Forget the Flowers

Misunderstood>

Spiders (Kidsmoke)

Hummingbird

-----------------

The Late Greats

Hate It Here

Walken

I'm The Man Who Loves You

Hoodoo Voodoo

That's Springsteen impression is great, I think he just needed a Telecaster to make it more so. :D

Ha, that is funny. I can see it. Witty fellow, that Tweedy. Those guys are living the life, I'm telling you. Playing with all these musical icons is becoming commonplace for them, but they do show their respect and admiration. Who's left for them to play with for crying out loud(another thread)?

Nice report bbop!

Here are some sweet, sweet photos a gentleman named Tom Spanier got from the front row last night ... I'm jealous. He took his Nikon D300 and was in prime position. Not sure if Tom's on VC or not, but kudos to you, sir!

I didn't get there quite as early and was a few rows back on the other side in front of Pat/John (and behind some rather tall people) and got some okay stuff ... I will try to cull through my images and post my own at some point soon.

I think I would have preferred the planned ending (Kingpin/Red Eyed/Got You), rather than Hoodoo. Oh well.

It seems like every show thus far this tour has been augmented, due to time. Perhaps they can start a bit earlier. Damn curfews. :angry

Alright so I drove up with my friend from Dallas for this, we're hype, I pull out my camera...and I left my damned battery in the charger at the house.

I appreciate the photos that have been posted, but if anyone has any they would be willing to PM or email them (templepilot2002@hotmail.com) my way so that I can share them in a photo album I would really, really appreciate it.

Finally got my photos uploaded.

Wilco concert pics

I took my trusty "sidearm" (Sony H7 camera) along with me to the show ... Didn't want to take my big DSLR as it would be pretty bulky in the audience and I didn't think they'd let me in with it anyway. In any case, the H7 is not the greatest for low light (pretty grainy), but it has a decent zoom. I was about 3-5 rows back from the stage and was partially obstructed by other fans, so I didn't get the best shots. A few turned out okay.

It was a good opportunity to try and work on composition though, and just practice ... and rock out!

We were right in front of Pat and he did his utmost to put on a great show for us.

He and Nels were nice enough to come out by the bus afterward and take some pics and sign some souvenirs.

:cheers

By my count it was 35, I would also like to mention the douchbag comment about the guy with the lazer pointer was pretty funny. It was good to see the guys, and jeff especially in such a good mood. Great show

I thought the laser pointer criticism was funny in particular because Wayne Coyne was standing just offstage, and the Flaming Lips hand out laser pointers to the entire crowd.
