GREAT show last night although I thought the crowd was lame for the most part. Yeah, they cheered when the band came out but they seemed emotionless during the songs i.e. not rocking out at all. In fact, even at my ripe old age of 38, I was rocking out more than anyone there. I know people enjoy shows differently, but there just seemed to be little energy there last night. Here's to hoping tonight's crowd is better.

He played it on a few songs. Impossible GErmany for sure because i remember the tone being off and I wondered why he was using a les paul instead of the jazz master. It was afer that when JEff introduced the "special guest" with them and explained Nels was playing his guitar.

I know he palyed it on at least one song before that (maybe ashes as suggested) and i'm pretty sure a song during the encore too.

I agree with this. If they had played single nights at the Fox again, or maybe the Civic Center (bigger venues than Cobb), they probably would have sold it out, or at least come close. I think they could have sold out two nights at the Tabernacle (comparable size venue as Cobb).

One hinderance to ticket sales is that Cobb has no transit access, so you have to drive, and for some people it's a long drive compared to "intown" venues. And it's also an area many ITP folks never go to, but it has a reputation for extreme traffic congestion. Not particularly inviting.

i came from decatur and it was not a hassle at all. right off the highway and parking was so easy. of course, this was a very adult show and people were mature for the most part.

you hit the nail on the head. to me, wilco is not a rock band. they area band that plays good songs. my preference would be a sit down show with warm lighting and no avant-garde guitar. i think it cheapens the songs to a high degree. not trying to ruffle feathers, it's just what i took away from the show last night.

Nice setlist. Muzzle, Misunderstood, Box Full of Letters, Hate it Here, Cali Stars, and Red Eyed & Blue / I Got You FTW!!!

I Got You should never be played without Red Eyed & Blue as a lead in.

Looks like Wednesday night was more Yankee Hotel Foxtrot focused, while Thursday night was all over the catalog.

Kicking myself for not going now.

I went to both nights and I have to agree, the first night was just weird. The audience was all over the place in terms of behavior. Three guys next to me were actually there to see the show, the very young couple in front of me seemed to have gotten lost and stumbled in and decided to stay because they sold beer. They were horrendous. Thankfully they disappeared for great chunks of the night.

Last night was, and I said this as I was walking out, as close to a perfect Wilco show as I've seen in a very long time. The people sitting near me all knew the songs, they were excited and danced/sang without annoying anyone around them. It was a great experience. I was thrilled that they brought back Misunderstood and was surprised to see them play Capitol City (I was hoping for this one but I figured it wouldn't get played). I love seeing people enjoy themselves at shows and let loose a bit but when people act like they've been released into the wild after being in captivity, it ruins it for those around them.

I was also disappointed that Nick Lowe didn't come out and play with them again last night. I loved seeing him perform both nights and I'm really grateful to Wilco for including him on this tour.

I think Art of Almost is a fantastic opener but I really liked the way One Sunday Morning opened last night. I feel like that did a lot to set the tone for the night. It forced people to pay attention to it (after Wednesday's performance of it, I'm glad they played it so I could see/hear it again without chattering going on everywhere).

And what about the poster for these shows? I thought the 3D thing was kind of cool.

Wednesday night was a lot of fun.

The cowd, I thought, could have been into it a little more, but honestly, I wasn't paying much attention to any of them. The band was really amazing. I was happy with the set list. Matthew and I were getting a lot of eye contact from Jeff the whole night, it was really fun, because I was all smiles rocking out and singing along. It was just a blast to hear the new songs live. So much energy!!!

I was shocked when Jeff dedicated "Standing O" to me. Matthew and I made a sign that said "Wilco, will you play Standing O?" and the other side said "Thank you Wilco for loving us!"

The venue was so nice. The ushers were really nice too. I'd talked to a few of them before doors opened, and they were really sweet. Much nicer than the people at the Fox last year.

Overall, it was an excellent time. Looking forward to the Ryman tomorrow night.

Sorry for my delayed post, woke up yesterday morning and my brand new macbook had been stolen out of the car, so I'm using internet at work. That sort of put a little bit of a damper on the excitment from Wednesday.

What, what, what?

Did he say "this is for Sarah" or "this is for the girl with the sign"? EIther way, it's pretty cool. I love that song and was so glad to hear it at Merriweather.

Was at the Thurs show and it was beautiful. Thoughts:

1) I can see why Wilco shuffles One Sunday morning all over the place - there's no damn place to put it. Wilco (The Show) like Wilco (The Everything) tends to build and build into crescendo, so putting it at the end would be hard. Placing it first forces the audience to shut up and listen, but it's a shame to not open with AoA

2) Red Eyed & Blue >

I Got You >

OuttaSite

That's one hell of an end. Sounds more amazing than you're imagining.

3) I like Born Alone more and more each day

4) The audience was good for the most part. Wish people would let go and rock a little but everyone was having fun around me (3rd row pit). Though the guy next to me somehow forgot I existed and during ALTWYS poked me and asked why I was in the pit and if I had a seat. Then I had to dig out my ticket and show him my seat number, at which point he realized he was in my seat #asshat

5) The encore about stopped dead with California Stars -Hate it here. Ugh. Hate it Here is just an awful song. Just drop it and play Walken or Seeds. It was dedicated to Pat and John's fathers (and if I recall correctly, the same thing happened at The Fox show). So ATL is probably doomed to Hate it Here for evah. And California Stars is just boring. It was boring with Peter Buck in Athens. It was my bathroom break at The Fox. So boring last night that Jeff forgot the lyrics. Just not my song.

Overall - amazing show and sad I didn't get to go Wednesday night. Also sad they didn't play Reservations. I stuffed that ballot box with all my heart - play my song!

Interesting, I've never heard of anyone not liking California Stars. That's a first.

Agree. Most of my family are lukewarm on Wilco, but they all love CS. It's among my wife's favorite songs by anyone, and, again, she's not a big fan. Thing about music is it either connects w/ you or it doesn't, but, my gosh, that is a song that is tapped into the source!

I was a couple rows back from you as i saw your sign. and he said "This one is for Sarah C"

oh and for the record i'm down with California Stars. I actually like Hate it Here too but rather it not be en encore song.
