1 bag of raw peanuts in the shell submerged in water in crockpot

A shitload of salt (but not too much)

Let them cook a good 24 hours, more or less depending on how tender you want them

Add some tabasco sauce and/or crushed red pepper if you want them spicy

I don't know if I can get raw peanuts this far north of the Mason-Dixon, but if I can I'll give it a try.

Sorry, but there's no point in taking a perfectly tasty peanut and boiling it till it loses both its texture and its flavor. 

Boiled peanuts are just mushbeans in a shell.  Kinda like edamame but with less taste and mushier. 

Of all the foodthings that come from the south, this is not our finest.

Peanuts are not perfectly tasty when they're green or raw, and not roasted/salted.

Hey, you never know. We were gonna go to Santa Fe for the ALJ convention in October, but decided the money would be better spent on a new kitchen.
