13ghosts - Garland of Bottle Flies

This thing rules. If I'd listened to it last year it would have almost certainly broken my top 10, and maybe top 5. Lots to love here for AGIB Wilco or Neil Young fans. Not so much vocally, but some of the guitar playing here is worthy of Crazy Horse. Check out "I Have Brought Fire" or "Billy Dee" to get an idea.

Same story here. Late to the party but I've been digging this over the past few weeks. And I completely agree with your Wilco AGIB comparison. Great stuff.

You will love 2008's Strangest Color Lights. There are more songs by the guy who sounds like Mark Linkhous, which are ok, but it is the other guy (Brad Armstrong ?) whose voice is on songs like Dr Bill and Stars. I like his stuff better.

Bug me. I've got the bonus tracks for Strangest Color Lights and the 2009 demo version of Garland which I should be able to zip up. There is also my ultimate 'bring the rock' version of Bury Me on youtube. The version on SCLs is acoustic.

Cicada from 2005 (?) - a

lso really really good. Have not heard their other 2011 release and need to put an order in to Skybucket Records.

Damn, the vid for Whip Poor Will was deleted from Youtube and the old band site is gone.

anyway, here is a goofy Simple Minds cover: 'no - you're thinking of Simply Red'

Been in such a mood lately - missing 90's era Rock/Pop girls with little dresses and great big guitars.. where have they gone? 514yn68R6pL._SL500_AA280_.jpg 41G753D9JSL._SL500_AA300_.jpg Lush-band-r01.jpg (Miki! :wub ) Really blows me away how well these hold up, especially Gala (1990). Is that because of or in spite of Robie Guthrie's (Cocteau Twins) production? I dunno. Even if you know some of their catalogue, please check out Emma Anderson's solo from Last Night (from the Lovelife album). One of my favorite "chick solos" of all time. It's not a shredder, it's just fantastic sounding and completely makes that song. I wanna learn how to play it.

Funnily enough I was looking up just the other day what happened to Miki ( :wub indeed) and the other surviving Lush members. Good band, too bad they didn't last too long.

Beatles, The - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

One of the most fitting albums to listen to on Valentine's Day!

Did the same last week. Seems she's become one of us - a junior copy editor or some such and rasing 2 kids. Said she doesnt think anyone wants to see her on stage, chubby and graying (so self depricating!). I hope she changes her mind at some point and re-dyes her hair. It seems Lush have somehow grown a sizable later generation following that only knows them from grainy youtube vids.

Got fired from my job for ditching work so I could see them at lolla '92, and they were the band I most wanted to see (all my friends wanted Pearl Jam, or the Chili Peppers, or even Ministry). All that candy red - the hair, the lipstick, and that Epiphone Riviera 12 string, and the ethereal sounds that came out of it. What she did to a hormone raged 19 year old college kid in love with that sound... :swoon:
