As far as I can tell, that N.C. Singers show in New Haven got cancelled. It's no longer on the venue website, and it's also not on Nels or Scott Amendola's websites. The Singers show tomorrow night in Washington DC is sold out, but they expect to release some tickets right before doors open.

I had a hunch Nels wouldn't miss the chance to share a bill with Deerhoof! I wish I could make it, but at least we get to see the Singers tomorrow night.

The event yesterday was pretty interesting.  Glenn did give a short talk about John Luther Adams' music (he wrote Ilimaq for Glenn, which will be released later this year).  The musical performance itself was a 70 minute percussion piece called "Inuksuit" which was performed by 66 percussionists outdoors spread over a large area on campus near the student center.  The music itself was a very spatial piece, with lots of sounds ranging from drums and cymbals and gongs to bells and sirens and vuvuzela's to every sort of clanging object imaginable.  It was kinda weird, kinda cool, and very interesting.

Glenn didn't play in it, but meandered around with his wife and kids, much like the rest of us.  It was really cool to see him just being a dad and carrying his son around on his shoulders and watching them play "roll down the hill".  It was a gorgeous afternoon, and a great day to listen to music outside.

I stumbled across this on TicketMaster's site. Apologies if it's been posted previously:

Well well well, what is this all about, I wonder? I just bought two tickets. The guy at the box office said as far as he knows there is no performance planned following the screening, but this certainly seems like a curveball, especially for a Saturday night. I can't believe there won't be something else announced before or after.
