Box of Rain

Box of Rain is one of mine, too. I remember when I first heard American Beauty -- some 30 years ago -- as a teenager and the first song comes on and it's Box of Rain....rewind the tape and play again...rewind the tape and play again...Happiness.

For me it's Brokedown Palace. Nothing tops the original version of that one.

Quite a few others, too, some well-known, some not so well-known. Off the top of my head:

Frank Zappa - Camarillo Brillo

Phil Ochs - Pleasures of the Harbor (Live)

Neal Casal - On the Mend

Pink Floyd - Chapter 24

John Coltrane - Mr. P.C.

Bob Dylan - Visions of Johanna (Live 1966 version)

Guest Don Draper

I take "multiple times in a row" to mean listening to the song end on end, but I don't know that anyone will throw you into the penalty box for choosing your own definition.

Are we talking about listening to the same song every day, or sitting down keep hitting the repeat/rewind button or moving the tone arm back every time the song ends?

The latter, really.

But see what Draper said.

Heartbreak, you're the man!  Love Camarillo Brillo!  Zappa's little guitar licks just kill me on that one.  Also love Visions of Johanna.  Is that 66 version the same one that's on Biograph?  I've been meaning to get into Neal Casal.  He's great in CRB and would love to see him in one of Phil or Bobby's band.

Jumping Jack Flash & Street Fighting Man - Rolling Stones (live from "Get Your Ya-Ya's Out")

Hoedown & Aquatrakus - ELP (live from "Welcome Back My Friends...")

Ziggy Startdust & The Spiders from Mars - David Bowie - all of side b

Love My Way - Psychedelic Furs

Not Where It's At - Del Amitri

As Far As I Know - Paul Westerberg

Lately I have been listening to an edited version of Uncle Tupelo's October 15th 1993 performance at the Vic Theatre every night.

It was a great recording of the show.
