Surprised that we (or at least I) haven't heard from the Tweedy management folks about this yet. Or maybe we have and I missed it. Anyway, a cool incentive to get out to your local independent record shop for all you completists...

I saw Spencer tweet a picture of this today and figured it was a RSD release, for some reason. Thanks for the heads up! I was able to put one on hold for this weekend.

So I was finally getting around to pre-order the album today from wilcoworld.net.

The Limited Edition Colored Vinyl is $35

Cheapest Shipping Option $13.05

$48.05 for limited edition Sukierae???

Is this some kind of joke, or does this come with the Beatles Mono albums??? I can justify $35 for a limited edition vinyl from an artist I love, but $13.05 shipping!!!???

I picked up the single yesterday with a $4 off for the record.  No idea if it is colored or not.  Honestly what's the difference?

According to http://tweedy.kungfustore.com/ the difference is $10.00, and the limited edition is yellow/orange swirl. Sure they'll sound the same. I'm a vinyl freak however, and get excited about limited releases, especially releases that involve a favorite artist or band. I really want to support Tweedy more by buying from their pre-sale site, but Kung Fu ruins that with gauging shipping prices. Anyone can pre-order the LP from Amazon for $25 without having to worry about shipping costs, so there's really no incentive to pre-order it from the Tweedy store unless you want a contest entry or wanted to bundle with a t-shirt or tattoo?

Lyrics have appeared online for all almost all of the pre-order downloads (on Zumic.com)- the exception being "I'll Sing It" (which they link to, but lyriclessly so...)...as always, the lyrics are a great read!! As favorite a songwriter as I have, & have ever had...love some as much of course, but he's in that absolute rarefied top tier...

1) "Summer Noon"

Summer noon I can always stay

To radiate what the cello can’t play

She spoke to me and provoked my band

And I broke in two in the heat of her hand

Like a lioness or a coyote

At a pink beating heart in the balcony

I followed the finger to the creature’s gate

In the hubbub where the pitiful congregate

I thought there was a note I could not hear

So I floated to the whisper up against my ear

Afterwards, I found my face in the trash

Really at the core of it, it wasn’t so bad

Never leave your mother’s womb

Unless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoon

Unless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoon

Summer noon I can always stay

To radiate what the cello can’t play

She spoke to me and provoked my band

And I broke in two in the heat of her hand

Like a lioness or a coyote

At a pink beating heart in the balcony

I followed the finger to the creature’s gate

In the hubbub where the pitiful congregate

I thought there was a note I could not hear

So I floated to the whisper up against my ear

Afterwards, I found my face in the trash

Really at the core of it, it wasn’t so bad

Never leave your mother’s womb

Unless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can swoon

Unless you wanna see how hard a broken heart can

2) "Flowering"

Hold me stranger

Don’t deceive

Angel master

Can’t retrieve

And all the knots

Hung high in the trees

Spilling oceans

Existing to believe

Told you danger

Carbon crown

March through the salt slush

Howling at the ground

Whistle my answer

Dance a blank face

Torment my sugar

And leaving any trace of flowering

Flowering

Hold me stranger

Don’t deceive

Angel master

Can’t retrieve

And all the knots

Hung high in the trees

Spilling oceans

Existing to believe

We’re flowering

We’re flowering

Flowering

Flowering

3) "Fake Fur Coat"

Behold the drift of a distant sun

Cold as my own heart

Blind at the edge of no return

Every time I dare depart

I believe the myth may illuminate

An anchor in the dry weeds

At the end of July, in a fake fur coat

Hoping that your heart still needs me

I can see there’s beauty in bubble gum

I’m rolling up my sleeves

To advertise the new freedom

I accept I can’t receive

Behold the gift of a distant sun

Canyons full of loose bones

The nettles and the brambles and the jack ditch boss

Thundering down from his throne

4) "Wait For Love"

Honey I’m worried, the fires cold

The tired souls have lost their way

Stay a woman find a song, then away

Alone and strange, out of range

I’ve heard you say dreams don’t matter

But it’s why we hold on as the days pass

And wait for love

On and on waltz through the distant day

Scatter parades as the sweet slips away

Oh, I guess you say we don’t matter

And I bet that could be true

But I still wanna look in your eyes and say

I’ll wait for you

Oh, I guess you say we don’t matter

And I bet that could be true

But I still wanna look in your eyes today

And wait for love

Let’s wait for love

5) "Diamond Light Part 1"

Why don’t we pick our own script and read it

Where the milk has dried on the throne

Open wires string gracefully beside

Rolling rivers of diamond light

Dash and heave each ache to the sky

Why don’t we choose one to believe in

Where shadows die all so alone

Cold inside, colliding points of view

Perfect mountains of diamond light

Dash and heave each ache to the sky

Are you scared? Are you frightened?

Terrified of being alone

Are you scared? Are you frightened?

Terrified of being alone

6) "High As Hello"

So long I will wait for

Howl at the moon

So long all the way home

Sit at the spoon

I should take you to

I’m as high as

I’m as high as hello

All the way it falls

Wicked will die

So alone I know I’m shade grown

Now why would I

I’ll take you to

I’m as high as

I’m as high as

I’ll take you to

I’m as high as

I’m as high as hello

So long all the way it falls

The wicked will die

I’m alone all over tone

Rivers wait

I should take you to

I’m as high as

I’m as high as hello

Hello

I’ll take you to

Oh I’m as high as

I’m as high as

I should take you to

Oh I’m as high as

I’m as high as

7) "Low Key"

I wanna let it be known

Ever since I was young

I’ve always been a refugee

Of a very high strung

I’ve always been low key

Just let the records show

No I won’t jump for joy I don’t

If I get excited, nobody knows

But I’m gonna love you the same

I’ll always be your fool

And when it looks like I don’t care

I’m just playing it cool

Oh no I won’t jump for joy I don’t

If I get excited, no one will know

I’ve always been low key

Oh you know me

Ooh ooh ooh [x3]

I’ve always been low key

Well you know me

No I won’t jump for joy I don’t

If I get excited, nobody knows

I’m gonna love you the same

I’ll always be your fool

And when it looks like I don’t care

I’m just playing it cool

No I won’t jump for joy I don’t

When I get excited, nobody knows

It's just beautiful. I feel like I've spent a very intimate evening and morning with my favorite artist singing sweetly in my ear. It's going to take a while to process all of this and let it settle in, but so far this is everything I could have hoped for. The opening and closing songs are pretty perfect too.

So is it in the vein of any Wilco albums? Or does it feel like something different?

Comments after one listen can be worthless, but I like the sequencing, and even though there are a variety of styles, there seems to be an underlying consistency in 'feel'. I thought it might be what I consider the most consistent JT album, and I think it indeed is - I don't think I would skip anything, whereas every other album has always had something that immediately grates a bit and I feel I can do without.

But asm me in a month . . . :-)

Agreed. It's impossible to give a good impression after just a couple of listens. But the sequencing feels really well thought out, and my first impression of the songs I hadn't already heard was very positive. It's great to hear everything in context.

It feels more intimate than a Wilco record has ever felt, almost to the point where I feel like I'm intruding as a listener.

I do love it though. Listened through this morning and I can't wait to hear it on vinyl next week.

Wondering if any of the songs not previously played live will make it into this upcoming run of shows. I hope so!
