Looks like Wilco's Best Of Compilation is coming out the same day as the rarities compilation. Should be good for people getting into the band, right?

Not going to quibble much with that list. How To Fight Loneliness is a surprise, in a good way. I'm not a fan of Walken, so I'd rather see that replaced with You Are My Face. Other than that, I'm good with it. Looks like it will be a good introduction to the band.

So you've picked your 20?

I think it's ironically funny that they put 19 songs on each CD of an album called "What's Your 20?"... wonder if it was on purpose, or not? Wonder if they could've squeezed any more on there? At least one more per would've been great...

I'm betting most folks know this, but just in case..."What's Your 20?" is a phrase used by truckers, & it translates to "what's your location?". Where "10-4" means "OK", someone's "10-20" is referring to their current specific whereabouts...I'm 50, so I grew up in an era where truckers & CB radios were a craze at some point (the "Smokey & The Bandit" films, C.W. McCall's his "Convoy" etc., etc. ...), so it's a given for me, but I don't know if this is era/age specific or not...

Of course it also clearly has the double meaning related to Wilco's 20th Anniversary too.

I wonder if Wilco/Jeff selected the tracks for this? I'd have to assume so...and interesting ones to be sure. I appreciate the deep album cuts & am surprised at some omissions ("Dawned On Me" spring to mind...) & inevitably some fave tracks aren't there, & a few still fine tracks that never would have made my top 40 Wilco songs are on there, but overall it's a collection that speaks volumes about the best band, & recorded output, of, at the very least, the last 20 years.

I think you messed up somewhere. You only have three songs from Being There. And you accidentally typed in "Bull Black Nova." Pretty sure you meant something else. ;)

Missing: "Poor Places", "Remember the Mountain Bed", "Spiders", "Wishful Thinking", "One Wing", "Art of Almost".

Good songs, for sure. But think of how much space Mountain Bed, Spiders and Almost take up on a disc. That being said, 6+ minute tracks like Misunderstood, Sunken Treasure, IATTBYH and Handshake Drugs are critical on a release like this. I'd be willing to sacrifice some of the SBS and WTA tracks to accommodate some of the aforementioned songs that were excluded, maybe even Can't Stand It - but since this has to be more of a "mass appeal" release I can see why they left those out. Tough to whittle a band as brilliant as Wilco down to two discs.

Airline to Heaven sucks.  Why is this song on so many of their releases?

what?!. i remember telling John once that they should open every show with that one. i dont think a single day goes past without me listening to it. its the perfect opener. starting with jeff on his own and turning into mayhem from all of them at the end

Yeah, Airline was always kind of the iconic Mermaid Ave song to me. Kind of a musical mission statement for that project. I can see not loving the lyrics if you don't like the churchy stuff, but that's a theme in so much excellent roots music I can't get hung up on that.
