Those shirts were $10 after the previous nights. Rock bottom prices. But your right - I remember boot shirts after a Stones show in 89 and at Dead shows throughout the late 80's and early 90's

I remember some bootleg shirts outside the AmericanaramA shows, possibly with a picture of the band from the Jay era. And they've been getting bootlegged for years in Europe, fwiw.

Hearing him mention and thank all the past members was pretty emotional, especially since that has to be he first time he's acknowledge Jay from the stage since his departure

He did last year during his solo tour in December. At the show in Kansas City, there was a heckler in the front row who kept yelling at Jeff to play a "Jay Bennett tribute." Between every song. It was pretty annoying. When Jeff ignored him, the guy made some remark about Jeff not respecting Jay, to which Jeff replied very calmly, "Jay Bennett was my friend. You didn't know him. He definitely wouldn't like you. Jay was my friend."

Gave me a lump in my throat and made me a little misty. It was very heartfelt and touching.

The heckler was eventually escorted out of the theater after his antics continued for several more songs.

Thinking back on the past incarnations of the band was an act of personal reflection.

T, you're spot on about the reflection inspired by last night (and the whole past week of shows). I'm not one of the lucky fans who have been around for Wilco's complete tenure, but it's definitely been a while. When I saw my first show I had just graduated college, just bought my first car, and was due to start my first full-time job in a few days. I remember Jeff introducing Mikael that night and saying something like "We're not quite sure what he does yet." I also remember noticing that Jeff seemed to know so many fans near the front of the crowd, and how cool it was that he interacted with them sometimes. I had no way of knowing then how many people I love and care about I'd end up meeting directly and indirectly through this band, or how much their music (past and future) would resonate with me. I'm so glad I was able to take part in a celebration of all that, and Friday's show was the perfect culmination.

One more banter note: I just remembered that when Jeff introduced the band, he referred to Glenn's job as "smacking the tubs." Glenn laughed and gave a few (sarcastic) slaps to his tom-toms before the next song.

I'm working on some pie charts around this...sorry for the delay. ;)

He wore a denim jacket the first two nights. I wasn't around for the middle two shows, so I can't say when he made the wardrobe change.

He wore that tan jacket each of the last four shows (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday).  The other thing I noticed was that that was the same jacket he wore when he was on Parks and Rec.  Wardrobe steal?

So true. And then to think about how it must be for Jeff and John to look back on 20+ years together and remember the trials and triumphs they've shared with each other, personally and professionally. Damn.

I have to say that one important thing missing last night was...bbop.  :cheekkiss Missed you, P. It was a struggle drinking four Guinnesses by myself. ;) But seriously, let's not let that ridiculousness happen again.

I was thrilled to be back at a show last night for the first time since Denver 2007 (not coincidently the last shows before we had kids.) It was a phenomenal show, easily one of the best (if not the best) show I've seen them play. Such a great mix of old favorites and songs from the last two albums I hadn't heard live yet. Next up, taking the kids to a show!

The Jim Campilongo Trio

I thought they were quite good, and a perfect opener for Wilco in Chicago.  They had a cool guitar-blues-on-acid thing for the opener, and also an amped up honky tonk piece, which fit the whole atmosphere nicely.  Tons of energy and intensity.  Drummer wore a tie, bass player wore a beanie, and the lead guy (Jim) looked like a cross between Richard Gere and Roger Waters.  All instrumental, no vocals.  Good stuff.

With the exception of the Ray Charles cover, sung by drummer Josh Dion.

Oh, nice...what song? Dion is a former bandmate of VC's own excellent soul man, our buddy Twisted Acres, so I was sad to miss him with Campilongo.

I take it Nels didn't sit in with them? I know he's played some with Campilongo in NYC. Once saw them do a set at the old Living Room when they did, among other tunes, Apache and I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night).

Oh, nice...what song?

I believe it was called "Here I Am." Apparently it's going to be on their (next?) album. Or is on their most recently released album? Campilongo wasn't the best at promotion, which was endearing. At one point he couldn't remember the name of the song they were about to play, and he also couldn't remember on which album a particular song had appeared. He announced that he had brought some CDs along and was going to sell them in back, like it was a great, last minute idea he'd had.  :yay It was a real testament to him being in it 100% for the act of creating and performing music.

Don't think it's a good idea to post full pictures of tickets. Have heard of people doing that, and the info, barcode, or something gets stolen and put on counterfeit tickets, rendering the original tickets useless.

That's a good point. I did something similar when I got my tickets to all of the nights at the Riv--posted a picture of them on FB before the event. However, in azs's case, since the events are in the past, I can't think of anything bad that could happen.
