I don't know about "best" but I always enjoyed the bonus CDs that came out with Pixies and Breeders albums. I had the Monkey Gone to Heaven EP before I had Doolittle, so to me, Manta Ray, Dance the Manta Ray, and Weird at My School are all essential Pixies songs.

The Cure. The "Join the Dots" box set is awesome.

Tons of great b-sides... A Few Hours After This, Mr. Pink Eyes, Happy the Man, Throw Your Foot, New Day, Exploding Boy, Man Inside My Mouth, Chain of Flowers, This Twilight Garden... the list goes on and on...

What about the Jam?

"A" Bomb in Wardour Street, Smithers-Jones, Butterfly Collector, See-Saw, Liza Radley, Dreams of Children, Tales from the Riverbank, etc.

Ya, the Jam (& Paul Weller stuff) have had plenty of good b-sides. REM had plenty, also. & let's not forget Wilco!!!!

Prince put out a 3-disc greatest hits compilation and if you were from another planet and didn't know any Prince songs, you probably wouldn't guess that the 3rd disc is entirely comprised of b-sides.

The Beastie Boys from Paul's Boutique through Ill Communication had a string of b-sides that rivaled any of their album tracks. The Vibes and Skills To Pay The Bills in particular are as good as any of their songs.

Good call Cam..Elbow are great. I was lucky to catch them at my school they  played at a festival when Asleep in the Back came out. There were maybe 30 people there and they were unbelievable. Seen them on every tour since (Except for Cast of a Thousand).

I could never figure out how Sugar's "The Needle Hits E" was a b-side. Much better than "Fortune Teller ".

Yes, great B-Side.  "Going Home" was also a great B Side.

I'd also like to point out here that Prince's 'Hits' doesn't have Batdance on it.

That is, Prince was so incredible that his label put out a 36-track greatest hits compilation and left off a #1 hit.
