What do you do for a living?

Recommended Posts

Another teacher here. For 22 years I have taught English, primarily honors American literature and film studies, at a large suburban high school north of Milwaukee. I've also sporadically written about cinema for nearly 30 years, including a five-year stretch when I produced a weekly print newspaper column.

I'm a catalog copywriter.

Meaning, I just write descriptions of the products in the catalog. Industrial supplies, so nothing sexy.

Although I did get a promotion, so I get to have a say in defining out copy style. So... still not sexy.

If only I got to write flowery descriptions like in the Peterman catalog.

Although, Peterman went under about a decade ago, so... there's that.

Depending on how long you have lived in Denver I live in 3 places: 5 Points, Curtis Park, or RiNo. I usually claim Curtis Park first to see if people know where that is.

Of course! I've lived in Denver for over 20 years....

That's right! You're friends with my next door neighbors, correct?

Oh my feeble memory. I remember there was a small world connection there but have since forgotten who it was.

Oh wait, you live up North East, by Mike and Morgan if I recall.

I taught special education for 25 years, middle school assistant principal for the past 3.

I worked in special ed for 10 years, and since then have done tutoring at all school age levels.
